World Cup: Journalists warned against Russian girls

Organisers of the 2018 FIFA World
Cup has introduced something new for
Sports journalists planning to travel to
Russia after they were sent a “flirting
manual” that included a section on “how
to have a chance with a Russian girl.”
A Journalist Nacho Catullo said on
his twitter he was among the dozens of
reporters and soccer officials who received
the manual while attending a free course
on Russian language and culture set up by
the Argentine Football Association, AFA.
It was there, he said, that they handed
out the manual.
“The manual from the AFA on the world
cup is very modern,” he wrote, sarcastically,
in a post showing photos of the chapter on
flirting.
The advice from the AFA was divided
into eight sections that went straight to the
point, telling journalists in the first section
to “look clean, smell nice and dress well” in
order to impress Russian “girls.”
“The first impression is very important
for them, pay attention to your image,” the
document said in Spanish.
High up in the document, the manual
urges men to treat women as “something
of worth.”
“Many men, because Russian women are
beautiful, only want to take them home,” it
continued. “Maybe they also want that, but
they are people that want to feel important
and unique.”
“Don’t ask stupid question about sex.
For Russians, sex is something very private
and not discussed in public.”
At the end, the manual said: “You will of
course find girls that only pay attention to
the material things, money and if you are
attractive.

AI As Obstacle To Nigeria’s War On Terrorism

$

Before the Iraqi War of 1991, there was a report of Iraqi soldiers ‘throwing Kuwaiti babies out of incubators’. That story was a fabrication of no other than Amnesty International, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that says it is “campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all”. Amnesty International’s star witness in that sordid saga, ‘Nurse Nayirah’, who turned out to be the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US at the time. Nayirah’s testimony before the US Congress was instrumental to the authorization of the Gulf War, the precursor to the hell that modern-day Iraq is.

Amnesty International issued a correction to distance itself from Nayirah only after the damage has been done, when the first Gulf War was over there was no evidence to back up the testimony of its star witness. The war and its chain reactions, which are still ongoing, has however provided AI with raison d’etre, it exists to profit from war, helping willing hostile nations start war and blaming the victims (targeted countries) for the hell unleashed on them.

The trail runs longer and farther afield than Iraq. The whole of the Middle East is practically on fire and the fingers of Amnesty International shows through the gloves in all instances. The NGO has honed its skills to a point where its template is easily adapted to destabilize any nation of its choosing. It sets up a local franchise in the targeted country, recruits citizens of that country who are unable to resist the allure of comparatively large paychecks and set a foreign slave master to direct them on how to destroy their own country under the guise of defending human rights and the cookies crumble from thence. Yemen, Iran, Syria, Libya, Egypt and other countries in that axis are just a few of the places where its goods are delivering destruction as intended.

There is, however, a limit to how long and how far a fire would burn once it has consumed the incendiary materials available to it. The Middle East, whose peoples have erroneously walked their legitimate struggles into the Amnesty International trap, is in most part a wasteland; its population has in some cases been completely uprooted while in some areas there is nothing left to destroy. Amnesty International is therefore compelled to source a new set for the horror show it is addicted to – the new location must have viable economies, resources and large population whose death and displacement would be tear-jerking enough to present Amnesty International as a messianic organization that is committed to eradicating human suffering while its sponsors pillage the resources of the doomed nation.

Unfortunately, Nigeria happened to fit the bill as it met all the criteria for the kind of nations that Amnesty
International select for destabilization; the country has great economic potential, abundant resources, and a large population. Tragically, Nigeria also has a population that are awake to demanding for their rights, which is an added bonus for Amnesty International as it is exploiting this to actively recruit Nigerians free of charge to destroy their own fatherland without realizing that they risk becoming a refugee. (This, of course, does not include the compromised Nigerians on AI’s staff as these ones have been confused by the relatively higher pay).

Now that Amnesty International is all but done in the Middle East it is increasingly turning its attention to Nigeria. The groundwork of lies it has been building in the past one decade are now being activated for what may yet be its greatest onslaught, one that would define whether Nigeria descends into the Middle East kind of chaos or emerge to keep waffling along, depending on what the citizens decide as being in their own best interest.

As is the case everywhere else that Amnesty International has ever sold its lies, the target has been the Federal Government of Nigeria even though the NGO’s attack is through the Nigerian Army, which has the constitutional role to prevent what Amnesty International wants to happen to the country, render it into a failed nation-state – a no man’s land where its corporate clients can come to exploit raw materials without having to pay prevailing global rates to a legitimate government. If allowed, this questionable organization will present the Nigerian Army as a criminal outfit that is not deserving of international support and one whose leadership should be punished for daring to defeat the terrorists that were commissioned to take the nation apart.

These apparent intentions perhaps explain why the achievements of the Nigerian Army or military in defeating terrorists – Boko Haram, IMN, IPoB separatists, militants and other criminals while operating within a global best practice of human rights observance is never acknowledged. Rather, the NGO engages dozens of Nayirahs, male and female, faceless witnesses and victims, whose testimonies cannot be trusted to accuse the military of atrocities that exist only in movie scripts written by Amnesty International staff. The organization, of course, usually ignore how these criminal elements maim and kill security personnel and innocent Nigerians because that does not fit its agenda.

The success of the Nigerian Army in degrading Boko Haram terrorists and other security threats to Nigeria has made Amnesty International’s work difficult in Nigeria. Troops are endeared to citizens who never stop singing the praises of their country’s military for keeping them safe. This makes rubbish of the manufactured stories that AI peddles as reports and brings it under increased pressure to deliver to those that have paid it to manage Nigeria into chaos.

The NGO has recently resorted to another of its tricks, which is to outsource its lies to other international NGOs to increase the prospect of Nigerians believing such and the international community acting on them. The open support for Boko Haram by these lies easily give the agenda away and the NGOs that have been so contracted are easily outed as liars, which means they will beat a retreat faster than Amnesty International.

Notwithstanding that the Nigerian Army has been able to ride above the muck laid out for it by Amnesty International and its allies, it must be noted that the organization’s unrelenting sabotage of the efforts to root out Boko Haram and other terrorists is a drain on the country. Its support has made Boko Haram persist longer than it is capable of without outside help. It is for this reason that Nigerians must hold Amnesty International responsible for whatever they have suffered in the hands of Boko Haram as long as it lasted. This would be the first step to Nigerians mentally preparing themselves to deal with Amnesty International the way country that enjoys stability dealt with the NGO and that is to give it no space to operate as an agent of instability.

Nigerian Singer, Flavour Set Internet On Fire

Musician, Flavour, has sent the internet on fire especially to his fans ,(mostly the females) racing after he shared a really sexy photo of himself on social media.

The multiple hits maker gave his fans a sneak peak of his incredible body which he never fails to flaunt when he gets the opportunity.

The photo shared on his insta-story has long turned on the appetite of some of his fans who are screaming for more. Here it is below;

In a 2017, Flavour who was on The Beat 99.9 FM‘s “The Morning Rush”, discussed scores of important subjects that the free world was curious to hear. Some the softballs they lobbed include:
On Social Media, Why are you called 2niteflavour?
2nite is my brand. From the east where I come from, they call me N’abania; the Igbo interpretation of 2nite. It was culled from my first single song N’abania.
Tell us about your new album, Ijele – The Traveler

Ijele is the biggest masquerade in the eastern part of Nigeria. It is the Igbo tradition that whenever the ijele comes out, nothing else happens. I traveled all the way from Lagos to Enugu in search of a name for my new album hence the name “traveler”. I got the title of the album ijele from Prof. John bull.

From your new album, what does Baby Na Yoka mean? Baby Na Yoka means a hot headed girl that loves to enjoy herself.
Why do you look the way you do? I hit the work out because I know I need it for my craft, to stay fit, look sexy for my female fans and to look strong as a man.
Do you turn down shows?

Quote
“I only go for shows that they pay me. If you don’t pay me. I’m not coming.
Do you consider yourself rich? I do not consider having cash and assets as being wealthy. I see being wealthy as how many lives you have impacted. I am here in this game, not just to enjoy myself or to make all the money, but to give back. I know that the greatest blessing is talent and the grace to live up to that talent, go through everything and stand tall. Now it is happening and the only thing I can do is to give back and be appreciative. It is not about making noise on social media. I want to impact lives differently and take away stress from people.
Other hard hitting queries:
Do you see yourself as a sex symbol? Flavour left the world to judge that. “Being sexy is not just forcing it on yourself. It is not even by going to the gym all the time. It is inside. It radiates from within; the inner part of the body. He added.
Are you in a relationship? “Nothing like that for now. I’m just focusing on my music. You need time for a relationship to work, and if you are not bringing in that time, you are deceiving yourself and your partner. Why would I wanna deceive someone like that? It is all about my music for now and I take care of my kids”.

Yesterday was Chris Attoh’s birthday, and to show that there’s still friendship between them, Damilola took to her Instagram page where she posted a picture of him and wished him a happy birthday.

She wrote: Happy Birthday papa Brian🙌🏽

Well, today is Damilola Adegbite’s birthday and guess who celebrated her? Her ex-husband, Chris Attoh took to his Instagram page to celebrate the mother of his child.

He wrote: Happy Birthday mama Brian🙌🏽

In an interview last year, 37 year old Christ Attoh revealed that he and Damilola Adegbite will always remain friends even though they are no more together.

”I believe throughout our marriage, It has probably been one of the most challenging things we have ever done, however, the key word is balance. At times when we both had to work, our parents would be there to hold the fort. God bless family because they were and still are very supportive. However, since the divorce, we are obviously now reworking things to create a new balance between work, spending time with and raising our son. Dami is a wonderful woman and an amazing mother. Despite our differences, she and I will always be friends. So more than anything we will find ways to continue to make sure that Brian can still have a balanced upbringing filled with love and support. Both our families have been and are still very supportive in helping us take care of our son Brian when we can’t be there due to work”, he said

Chris proposed to Adegbite on a boat cruise in Manhattan, NYC in August 2014 and proceeded to tying the knot the following year on February 14, Valentine’s Day, at the La Villa Boutique Hotel in Accra.

Herdsmen killings: Danjuma’s alarm baseless – Army

$

0

Nigerian Army yesterday said
allegations against it by retired
Gen. T.Y Danjuma that it colluded
with militia in Taraba and refused
to protect the people were untrue.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-
Gen. Tukur Buratai, made this
known at a news conference in
Abuja where he gave details of the
findings of the 10-member panel
the Army constituted to probe the
allegations.
The panel, which comprised
serving and retired army
personnel, representatives
of National Human Rights
Commission, NHRC, and Civil
Society Organisations, CSOs, was
set up on April 10. It submitted its
report of April 25.
Danjuma, had on March 24 at
the convocation of Taraba State
University in Jalingo, alleged that
some troops on internal operation
in Taraba colluded with killers
and herdsmen who attacked
communities in the state.
He said that the troops failed to
protect the residents against the
attacks. “You must rise to protect
yourselves from these people; if
you depend on the armed forces
to protect you, you will all die. “I
ask all of you to be on the alert
and defend your country, defend
your state,” he admonished.
Danjuma said that the
unnecessary killings, which were
akin to “an act of ethnic cleansing”
being perpetuated against the
people of Taraba, specifically and
Nigeria at large, must stop.
He accused the military of being
part of the killings.
Buratai, who was represented by
Maj.-Gen. Nuhu Angbazo, Chief
of Military/Civil Affairs, said:
“With respect to the statement
by Lt.-Gen. T.Y. Danjuma, it is
clear that the allegations were not
true. “There is a need to urge for
caution on the part of the elder
statesman in view of the security
implication of such comments.’’
Buratai exonerated the army,
saying that there was no collusion
between it and bandits in Taraba
as alleged by the former chief of
army staff.
Rather, he said, there was
“sustained media campaign to
belittle Nigerian army and other
security agencies’ operation in
the state’’ without saying who was
behind the campaign.
He stated that the panel found
that Taraba governor made
several attempts to remove
the Commanding Officer of 9
Battalion, Lt.-Col. I.B. Gambari,
for “his refusal to be dragged into
the state politics’’.
Buratai also alleged that
the chairman of Takum Local
Government Area attempted to
undermine the authority of the
commanding officer but did not
give detail.
He commended the officer and
troops on operation in the state
for their professional conduct.
According to the army chief,
most of the crises over the years
in Taraba were particularly in
Takum, Wukari, Ussa, Donga
and Sardauna Local Government
Areas.
“There was absence of Nigerian
army deployments in some crisisprone
areas in the hinterland in
Taraba state,’’ he said, and blamed
it partly on the porous NigeriaCameroon
borders and arms
proliferation in the state.
“There was a massive
proliferation of small arms and
light weapons in Taraba, some of
which have been recovered from
warring parties, criminals and
unauthorised persons,” he added.
Buratai also said blamed the
unending clashes in the state on
its “highly heterogeneous and
division along ethno-religious
lines.’’ “It is apparent that the
clashes in Taraba are as a result
of clan and communal crisis that
predates this present government.
“Most of the crises in the state
are politically-motivated and
some persons are deliberately
escalating the situation for selfish
gains. “The army is also of the
view that the situation in Taraba
has steadily deteriorated largely
due to distrust, intolerance, lack
of inclusion and accommodation
of different ethnic groups in the
state,” he said.
According to him, this has made
it difficult for the army to carry
out its constitutional role in the
state without being tainted.
He commended the panel for
doing a thorough job.

Little secrete on how to dress your pear- shaped body

$

When it comes to fashion shape is everything. No matter how expensively that
dress without fittingly match that body shape it will definitely make rubbish of
fashion.
However, discovering your body shape will also save you stress of what kind of
dress will fit a particular occasion at any given time. The aim of dressing for your
body type is to achieve a flattering look that accentuates your strengths.
On the other, dress to fit that your pear-shaped body or also known as triangle
shaped body should not be a source of worry to you as a pear-shaped figure
draws attention because of its wide and voluminous lower body, in direct contrast
to the narrow and petite upper region.
Women with a pear-shaped body should dress up in outfits with detailed works
on neckline, bodice, and sleeves to highlight the upper body.
Tips on how to dress for your pear body shape:
These tips are just guidelines for creating the best balance but they are by no
means the only way to dress this body type. In the end you have to do what
pleases you and create a silhouette you like
Pears tend to store their weight on their thigh and their legs may be heavy. Often
they have a very good upper body which is why much on the emphasis in dressing
is on the upper side of the body.

Skirt: A-line skirts are a pear shaped woman’s best friend. When you wear a well-
structured A-line skirt that emphasizes your waist, people will not even notice
your wider hips.

Controversial ‘transmission video’ IGP, Idris Ibrahim owe Nigerians explanation – Ozekhome

$
0
0

It’s no more news that the
Inspector of Police, IGP, Ibrahim
Idris was in Kano last Monday to
commission the Force Technical
Intelligence Unit and all hell was let
loose. He was practically speaking,
lost in transmission!
In an embarrassing video clip that
has since gone viral online, the IGP
was caught struggling to read from
a prepared script, making multiple
blunders and struggling helplessly to
be coherent.
The usually loquacious Force Public
Relation Officer, Jimoh Moshood,
has since been silent over the
embarrassing outing giving the feeling
that since no response is coming from
the police hierarchy the video clip is a
true representation of fact.
Watching the video leaves one
dumbstruck and distressed. Below is
the unedited transcript:
“I mean, transmission, I mean
effort, that the transmission
cooperation to transmission, I mean
transmission to have effect, ehm,
apprehend, I mean, apprehensive
towards the recommendation,
recommended formation effective
and effect, I mean, apprehensive at the
transmission of…and transmission
and transmission for the effective in
the police command.”
“Sorry, I’m sorry please.” (A man
in suit joined him to help hold down
his script, and even helped with the
pronunciation of the words. But this
didn’t make the reading any better for
the IGP). He continued, “All effective
the transmission, other transmission,
I can state without contradiction that
I have commissioned what?
“Over transmission of, over
transmission of, over all kidnapping,
armed robbery and other heinous
crimes, I mean, ehm, commission
transmission, recommendation
transmission.” The end!
However two theories have been
attributed for this unfortunate public
gaff by the IGP, one is that the video
was doctored by mischief makers to
discredit the IGP and the other is that
the video is real, and the IGP was just
having a bad day which can happen
to anyone.
Consequent upon this, Chief Mike
Ozekhome (SAN) has said that the
IGP owes the Nigerian Public an
explanation.
In his Facebook page Ozekhome
said “My take on the two parallel
videos. I am not a film maker or
video expert. I am not a politician. No
membership of any political party. No
meetings with any of them. I handle
cases for the top echelon of the ruling
APC party and the opposition PDP
party. So, I will take my analysis from
a strictly professional legal angle
which can resonate with the judge
and the court watchers if I were
given the opportunity to put the IGP
in the witness box for brutal cross
examination on both videos. The
readily discernible differences that he
must clear to the satisfaction of the
court.”
After noting clearly eight
differences in the two viral videos
circulating in the social media, from
purportedly the same ceremony
and acknowledging ICT wizardry
in greatly doctoring the events, he
submitted thus;
“A calm view of A which I have
carefully done, will see no jumps at all
in the speech which ran throughout,
except when his aide came to the
stage to guide him. Public officers
should not think we are all fools who
can be taken for a cheap “gangilova”
ride. Some of us are quite discerning,
critical and interrogating.
“This is one instance the IGP owes
the Nigerian public an explanation,
even if he refuses to honour Senate’s
invitation under sections 5,60,62,88
and 89 of the 1999 Constitution and
sections 4 and 5 of the Legislative
Houses (Powers And Privileges)
Act, Laws of the federation of
Nigeria,2004.”
Chief Ozekhome, further pledged
to push through his take on the issue
through his weekly back page column
of Sunday Telegraph.

Fayose uncovers plot to rig Ekiti guber using varsity students

$

0

Ekiti State Governor, Mr
Ayodele Fayose has accused
the All Progressives Congress,
APC, of connivance with the
Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC, to rig the
July 14 governorship election
in the State by using students
of the Federal University, Oye
Ekiti, FUOYE, as INEC ad-hoc
staff for the election, instead of
youth corps members.
The governor, who made
this known yesterday while
addressing journalists in Ado
Ekiti, described President
Muhammadu Buhari’s
comment that the Ekiti 2014
governorship election was
characterized by “hanky
panky”, as unfortunate, saying
he was not surprised because
the President was no longer
in touch with realities and
also not in charge of his own
government.
He said that the Vice
Chancellor of FUOYE, Pro Kayode Soremekun, was a card
carrying member of the APC
and a close ally of the party’s
candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi,
accusing him of rigging elections
for the APC in the past.
“The idea behind this plot
is to recruit APC members
from neighbouring States, arm
them with FUOYE students
Identity Cards and use them as
INEC Presiding and Returning
Officers to perfect the planned
rigging of the election. This will
fail.
“Recall that the President said
categorically that Ekiti State
must be taken by the APC at all
cost. Instead of his empty boast
that his party must capture the
State by whatever means, the
President should rather tell Ekiti
people what he has done for
them in the last three and half
years.
“Today, we are beginning to
receive signals to the effect that
clandestine moves are being
made to subvert the will of
Ekiti people. With the failure of
their “Ondo Option”, other evil
means are now being devised.
“Despite that we have over
9,000 Youth Corps members in
Ekiti State and it has been the
general practice to engage the
NYSC members in elections
across the country, the APC in
collusion with INEC has asked
that students of the Federal
University, Oye Ekiti, FUOYE,
be recruited as INEC ad-hoc
staff for the election, instead of
youth corps members.
“We are in possession of an
Internal Memorandum from the
office of the Dean of Students
Affairs, FUOYE seeking
registration of students of the
University as INEC Presiding
and Returning Officers for the
Election.
“As I speak, over 2,000
supposed FUOYE students have
been registered; with a curious
condition that they should
provide Bank Account details of
their close relations, apparently
to avoid tracing any payment
into their own accounts.
“The question is; with over
9,000 Youth Corps members in
Ekiti State, what is the need for
FUOYE students in an election
that is holding in less than 2,200
polling units?
“Our counsel is that parents,
guardians and families of
FUOYE students should prevail
on their wards to shun this
Greek gift and avoid being used
by desperate politicians.
“INEC, too, must come clean
on this. The electoral umpire
must tell the public the rationale
behind the plot to jettison Youth
Corps members for supposed
FUOYE students.
“I am not surprised that
such a statement came from
the president. That was the
same President who said
Nigerian youths are lazy and
that Nigerians living abroad are
criminals. He can also afford to
indict his own country by saying
that agencies of the federal
government were involved
in electoral fraud, even when
the United States Government
commended them.
“However, let me tell the
President and his men that they
will be disgraced here in Ekiti
because the power of the people
is greater than the power of
those in power.
“We hereby call on all men
of good conscience to stand
up and be counted in the fight
against dictatorship, election
rigging and the plot to subvert
democracy in Nigeria. 2019
general elections is close by and
Ekiti as well as Osun elections
are prelude to what to expect in
2019.
“The international community
must prevail on INEC and the
Buhari administration to allow
free, fair and credible election in
Ekiti State.” Fayose said

Bishop bemoans FG’s indifference to herdsmen menace

Federal Government under
President Mohammadu Buhari
has received thumbs-down for its
perceived reluctance to put an end
to the mindless killing of innocent
Nigerians by bloodthirsty Fulani
jihadists marauding as herdsmen.
Bishop of Okigwe South
Diocese, Church of Nigeria
(Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd.
David Onuoha gave the knocks in
his Presidential Address at the 1st
Session of the Ninth Synod of the
diocese held recently at the Holy
Trinity Church, Onicha Uboma in
Ihitte Uboma LGA of Imo State.
The cleric who observed
that majority of Nigerians are
currently living in palpable fear
of the uncertainty beclouding
the nation’s future noted that
news reports in the media and
happening events in parts of
the country points clearly to the
increasing spate of insecurity in
the country.
“It is clearly evident that the far
greater percentage of Nigerians
today is living in palpable fear
of the direction the country
is heading. These fears are
heightened every day by news
coming from the print, electronic
and social media as well as what
the eyes can see about the growing
level of insecurity in the land.
“We are glad that Boko
Haram has been ‘decimated’ and
degraded to the point that they
no longer occupy territories in
Nigeria, yet we are worried that
they are still wasting lives and
properties in the land.
“The menace of killer herdsmen
and their manifest proclivity
for killing people in scores,
destroying farmland and sacking
communities are unprecedented.
That they carry sophisticated
weapons, operate freely and
openly and escape prosecution is
as disturbing as it is intriguing..
“That their scope of operation
appears to be widening by the day
is a source of serious concern. Why
the government of the land seems
incapable of arresting the situation
remains a puzzle.”
Dismissing the various reasons
advanced by government on
why the menace of terrorism
has persisted, Bishop Onuoha
wondered why other neighbouring
West African countries are not
encountering the same problem
He also dismissed the excuse
that the mindless killing were
occasioned by the enactment of
anti-grazing law in Benue State
saying those opposed to the law
ought to approach the law courts
rather than taking laws into their
hand.
The prelate however enjoined
Christians not to despair in the face
of the prevailing travails assuring
them that faith in God and fervent
prayer as well as praises would
see them through in the long run.
On the state of affairs in the
governance of Imo State, the
bishop unequivocally condemned
the untold hardship, misery and
penury inflicted on the citizenry
by the Owelle Rochas Okorocha
administration via his many antipeople
policies and programmes.

NFIU, ABCON hold joint anti-money laundering, terrorist financing training

NIGERIA Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of
Nigeria (ABCON) yesterday concluded a three-day joint training/sensitization programme on anti-money
laundering and terrorist financing.
The programme, attended by head offices/zonal secretariats staff of ABCON and key personalities from
the NFIU was held at the ABCON Secretariat, in Ikeja Lagos. .
Speaking to financial journalists at the end of the training, ABCON President, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, said
the anti-money laundering training is intended to familiarize Bureaux de Change (BDC) operators with the
process of money laundering — the criminal business used to disguise the true origin and ownership of
illegal cash — and the laws that make it a crime.
The training, he said, will create awareness on the need to check money laundering and terrorist
financing in this period of electioneering; ensure that BDCs are not used to launder funds by Politically
Exposed Persons (PEPs). It will also upscale BDCs’ compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and
Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) for Banks and Other Financial Institutions in Nigeria
Regulations, 2013.
Gwadabe explained that the NFIU is the arm of the global financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the joint
training is part of the efforts of the Federal Government in combating money laundering, and financing of
terrorist activities within the country. The training is in line with BDCs commitment to meeting their
obligations towards the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations.
He said the core role of the FIU is that it serves as the country's central agency for the collection, analysis
and dissemination of information regarding money laundering and the financing of terrorism and the
training was an opportunity to get more acquainted with the role of NFIU and have a better understanding
on how to file their transaction reports to regulatory agencies.
He said the trainings will enable BDCs to understand how to raise the Suspicious Transaction Reports
(STRs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) to know when to submit such reports. He said these
reports are raised by operators on suspicious activities of individuals and are submitted to Financial
Intelligence Unit.
He said the training was also meant to increase BDCs participation and awareness on the reporting portal
of NFIU which iswww.goaml.nfiu.gov.ng. It is also expected to address the low level of skills in the BDCs
subsector to prepare them for global competition and partnerships. The ABCON boss also alerted BDC
operators on the circulation of hoarded currency in the economy.
He said both the NFIU and BDCs used the training opportunity to discuss Central Bank of Nigeria CBN
penalties on money laundering and terrorist financing adding that an updated code of conducts for BDCs
operators in Nigeria will be unveiled later.
The ABCON boss said the training is also backed by the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, 2011 (as
amended) and Central Bank of Nigeria (Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of
Terrorism for Banks and Other Financial Institutions in Nigeria) Regulations, 2013.
He said that ABCON has been working assiduously to cover all aspects relating to fight against money
laundering and terrorist financing one of which is capacity building for its members and engagement with
key stakeholders.
He said that ABCON is committed to raising awareness, confronting and advocating in the areas of
money laundering and terrorist financing to address any noticed gap in filling their transaction reports.

Gwadabe said that money laundering and terrorist financing pose not only a threat, but are enormous
threats, enormous challenges to the economy, security, and social life in Nigeria, the region and globally.
A joint study conducted by the Global Financial Integrity (GFI) and the African Development Bank (AfDB)
showed that between 2000 and 2009, about $30.4 billion was illicitly transferred out of Africa each year.
Over a longer period of 30 years, calculated from 1980, the resource drain was between $1.2 and $1.3
trillion.
Outflows from West and Central Africa stood at 37 per cent), followed by North Africa 31 per cent and
Southern Africa 27 per cent. The illicit financial flows IFFs are derived from various predicate offences of
money laundering. He said that the BDCs under ABCON do not want to be part of the groups contributing
to the IFFs and therefore are doing everything within their power to ensure they comply with AML/CFT
rules in the country.

Keeping the Toilet Clean

The toilet, like the bathroom, is a
humid area of the house due to the
amount of water in the cistern, and
as we know germs love a humid
environment to breed in.
Toilet bowls can be downright
difficult to get to sparkling status,
which means you end up
spending much more time than
you would like crouched down
beside the toilet scrubbing away.
Here are a few secret weapons on
how to get toilets clean faster and
keep them clean longer.
Bacteria in the toilet absorb
organic waste and release gases
which smell bad, hence the
importance of hygiene.
Bacteria can mostly be found in
the toilet bowl but they’re also
lurking on the seat, the floor, the
flush and the door handle.
Bacteria can also be found in lime
scale deposits.
Every time you flush the toilet,
they are projected into the air, up
to 1.5m high, and then cover all the
surrounding surfaces. If your toilet
is in the bathroom, bacteria can
even land on your toothbrush.
Furthermore, keeping a toilet
clean is essential to your health and
the health of your family. Bacteria on toilets can cause Rota virus, an
infection that could lead to vomiting
and severe diarrhea.
Maintaining a clean toilet is not
only better for your health but also
more pleasant for visitors. While it
is not recommended that you use
bleach on most toilets because it can
erode the finish, there are many other
products useful for cleaning and
maintaining your toilet.
Once clean, it only takes a nominal
effort to maintain until you are
able to clean again. Here are some
suggestions for how to maintain a
clean toilet.
Shut that lid before you flush it is
important to remember to clean the
toilet brush which spreads bacteria in
the same way as sponges, cloths, face
cloths, etc.
Types of bacteria found in the toilet:
E.Coli
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Staphylococus aureus
Salmonella
Enterobacter
Listeria
Useful tips and advice:
Always flush the toilet with the
toilet lid down in order to reduce the
pump soap dispenser which doesn’t
allow bacteria to collect.
Sprinkle baking soda all around
the sides of the inner bowl for a
more natural, non-chemical clean.
Allow it to work for approximately
5 minutes then scrub with a toilet
brush.
Baking soda is an inexpensive,
non-toxic, naturally-occurring
material that is effective in
cleaning and whitening without
harsh chemicals. This is a safer
option for households with dogs
who may drink from the bowl or
potty-training children who touch
the toilet frequently.
Suitable products and equipment:
• Scrub the Bowl with a Vinegar
Mix
Instead of mixing up a solution
beforehand, follow this bit of
cleaning genius and pour each of the
ingredients in one at a time.
This way, the reaction caused by
mixing the ingredients happens
right
in the bowl so that it has the best
impact on the grime settled there.
• Clean the toilet either with
diluted bleach or with the array of
products available in store such as
blocks or gels to use on and under
the bowl and between the joints,
once or twice a week.
Be careful however: too much
bleach can make some bacteria
more resistant, which is why it is
important to use standard products
regularly.
• Get Rid of Impenetrable Ring
Scum with Sandpaper , Scouring the
toilet bowl can lead to further buildup
in the future, so this nifty trick
should be reserved for the really
tough to tackle rings and done
with care.

Project scam rocks SGF’s Office

Indications have emerged
over allegations of bribe for
project guarantee in the Ecology
department under the Office of the
Secretary to the Government of
the Federation, OSGF.
At the centre of the monumental
sleaze that has been going on
unchecked are some directors and
officials in the office OSGF and the
Ecological Trust Fund unit.
Our checks revealed that the
alleged sleaze is a N1.5million
bribe to guarantee approval
for any ecology project under
consideration in the ecological
trust fund department.
According to further checks, it
was uncovered that a prospective
victim who has an environmental
challenge and such is brought to
the office for execution is made
to part with the sum of N1.5m
and in some cases N1.2m when
it is properly negotiated for the
actualization of an environment or
disaster related natural challenge
and project.
The Nigerian Pilot Weekend
learnt that the money which is not
receipted is branded, “Mobilization
and Processing Fee”.
It was also gathered that the bribe
is a guarantee that the project will
be listed and forwarded to council
for approval.
The paper also discovered,
according to impeccable insiders
knowledgeable with the illegal
dealings that those mostly affected
are the National Assembly
members (the honourable
members and their senate
counterparts), community leaders,
etc.
The lawmakers are said to
be badly hit because of the
desperation to fix most ecological
problems in their various
constituencies, perhaps those the
zonal constituency projects cannot
handle because of their nature,
cost, professional expertise and
sophistication, for instance, gully
erosion devastation, etc.
But the Ecology office has
distanced itself from all the
allegations.
According to the Secretary to the
Office of the Permanent Secretary
of the Ecological Trust Fund,
who the Director of Press in the
SGF’s office, Mr Adetola Olusegun
directed this paper to speak with
on the issue, “there’s nothing like
that here”, she told this paper.
The lady (Secretary) who
declined her name when she
was asked to introduce herself
absolved the office of all allegations
of “mobilization fee, or bribe for
project”.
She explained that the Permanent
Secretary was clean, God-fearing,
and would never indulge in such
acts.
She however, shifted the blame
to previous regime, saying “the
Permanent Secretary does not even
see those persons coming for the
projects until the whole process is
completed”.
“There is a process and the
whole thing goes through this
process. Until it is time for bid
opening, nobody sees anything.
The Permanent Secretary doesn’t
even come in until the day of the
opening of bid.”
Continuing she noted further
that “This process passes through
the FEC, so why will there be
anything as a ‘mobilization fee’?
“All Directors, Deputy Directors,
and the Permanent Secretary,
attend the bidding. It is a public
thing. Nothing is hidden”, she
explained.

2018 farming season: Plateau set for bumper harvest

As the raining season sets in, farmers in
Plateau state have said that they are set to
boost food production in the state,
Most farmers who spoke to the
Nigerian Pilot Weekend, said with the
encouragement they have gotten from the
state government, they predict a bumper
harvest at the end of this farming session.
Haruna Manti a farmer in Plateau state
who spoke to the Nigerian Pilot Weekend
in his farm in Mangu, said, as you can see
I have cleared my farm land and waiting
for the rains to set in properly, we have
received improved seedlings from the
state government and we are just waiting
for the rains to set in properly for us to
start farming hard.
I must commend the Plateau State
Governor Simon Lalong administration
for recently purchasing 400 tractors in
order to boost agriculture, he added .
Plateau state could be said to be blessed
with a fertile land as in the state every
crop can be grown.
Bontina Francis a farmer in Pankshin
local area of Plateau, who also spoke to
this paper, said “the state government has
provided them with improved seedlings
of maize so he is willing to cultivate more
farm lands this season before now, I use
to cultivate seven hectares of land but i
would cultivate 10 hectares this season.
On assumption of office in May 29th
2015, the Plateau state governor came
to power at a time when the economy
of Nigeria was going through recession
as against this background, the state
government realized that there is urgent
need to look beyond oil by exploring other
potential sources of revenue through
agriculture.
Lalong therefore vowed to revamp the
agricultural sector.
speaking at the occasion of the launch/
flag-off of sales of fertilizers for the 2017
farming season on Tuesday in Kanam
local government area of the state Gov
Lalong said “, It is with great pleasure
that I welcome our teeming farmers in
the State and the general public to this
special flag-off/ceremony signaling the
commencement of the sales of subsidized fertilizers to farmers for the 2018 farming
season.”
“I am particularly happy that since
I assumed office in 2015, our Rescue
Government has had the opportunity
of undertaking the yearly Flag-off of the
sale of subsidized fertilizers to farmers,
organized by the Ministry of Agriculture
and Rural Development (MARD).”
“This occasion is the traditional practice
performed by Government to give farmers
a clear picture of how Government intends
to support farmers in accessing fertilizer;
which is a key Agricultural Input that will
enhance harvest in the farming season.
This event is therefore important to me
because it affords me the rare opportunity
of reviewing every year’s method of
distribution, vis a vis the current one
put in place, all in a bid to ensuring the
effective and efficient distribution and
sales of the commodity, to targeted small
holder peasant farmers.”
“Let me take this time to quickly enjoin
government officials, charged with the
responsibility of sales to farmers to note
that with every year’s distribution, I do
expect an improvement in the transparent
and accountable method of getting the
fertilizers to the end users.”This will
sincerely be seen only in the increased
number of farmers who are seen to access
the subsidized fertilizer with ease and at
the stipulated sale price.”
“Equally, all farmers must endeavor
to jealously guard and protect what has
being acquired and the method put in
place for the distribution of this essential
Agricultural input. You will do well
to report any sharp practices usually
perpetrated by middlemen, who buy the
fertilizer at subsidized rate, only to resale
same in the open market at exorbitant
rates. This will not be tolerated by our
Rescue Government which is desirous
of having our peasant farmers obtain
subsidized fertilizer at the right price to
enhance their yield across the State.”
He also said “let me reassure farmers on
the Plateau that I would not relent on my
pledge of transforming the Agricultural
Sector in the State. Generally speaking,
the role of Government in Agricultural
Development is basically to create an
enabling environment for the public
sector to thrive. To this end, the State
Government has committed time in the
formulation and review of policies that
will enhance best agricultural practices.
Our government has also invested
massively in the tractorization policy with
the purchase of 400 tractors to enhance
mechanized large scale cultivation of land.
We have also engaged 400 Agricultural
Extension Workers and are at the verge of
completing payment for the purchase and
full takeover of the BARC Farms.”
“Further to this, Government has
consistently procured and sold fertilizers
at subsidized rates to farmers at the
beginning of farming seasons, since our
assumption of office in 2015. We have
also revived the Panyam Fish Farm
through Public Private Partnership (PPP)
arrangement and have paid counterpart
funds for major Agricultural Value Chains
that the State Government has keyed
into. We are not relenting in availing to
our citizens the numerous opportunities
that reside in the current Agricultural
Revolutionary Programmes of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) Government
of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
With this well laid foundation, I urge all
our farmers to patiently wait to see the
various programmes and projects in the
Agricultural Sector progress to maturity
in our State.”
“For the year 2018 farming season,
Government will be availing to our
states
2018 farming season: Plateau
set for bumper harvest
farmers a total of19, 400 Metric tons
of assorted fertilizers comprising
Urea, NPK at N5, 500 per bag, while
50kg of organic fertilizer will be sold
to the public at N4, 500; interested
farmers will purchase the fertilizer
through the Distribution Committees
constituted at the State and Ward
Levels.” In this wise, I have directed the
composition of the State Staff Fertilizer
Distribution Committee to comprise
of; the commissioner of Agriculture
as Chairman, Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Agric & Rural Development.
(MARD) Member, Director of Finance
and Supply MARD Member,
Representative All Farmers Association
of Nigeria Member , Representative of
Civil Organization , Member
Representative of Physical Challenged
Farmers Member House Committee
Chairman on Agriculture PLHA
Member, Staff Department of Planning,
Resource and
Statistics MARD Member, Staff
Agric-Service Department MARD
Secretary
Lalong also said “The various Ward
Fertilizer Distribution Committees shall
comprise of Most Senior Traditional
Head in the Ward Chairman,
Clergy of Dominant Religion in the Ward
Member, Representative of the Youths in
the Ward Member,Representative
of Women in the Ward as Member,
Representative of All Farmers
Association Member, Staff of Min.
Agric and Rural Devt./PADP/Fadama,
Existing Security Formation/Vigilante
in the Ward Member
Membership of these committees
should be made up of men and
women of integrity with high sense of
responsibility, who are accountable and
ready to lend their hands in support
of Government’s effort of providing
support to small holder farmers in the
State.
“ I wish to solicit for the support of
all stakeholders in the Agricultural
Sector, in the country and other
Regional and International Agricultural
Establishments, Educational, Research
and Support Institutions, to continue
to provide the necessary incentives
and support that will aid Agricultural
Development in the State and the
Country in general. I also urge all
our Agricultural Stakeholders and
farmers group in the State to work
in synergy with one another, in their
bid to complement Government’s
efforts in achieving its desired goal of
Agricultural Development.”
“It is my singular honour and
pleasure to declare the sale of assorted
subsidized fertilizer to farmers in the
State, open to the glory of God and for
the benefit of humanity. It is my prayer
that this year God Almighty will favour
us with adequate rainfall, good weather
and a bumper harvest for our physical
and economic survival as a people.”
Goje Tanko another farmer in Jos
North local government area of the
state said hailed the governor for his
plans at boosting agriculture in Plateau
and called on him to continue to do
more for the farmers
