How to handle headache

HEADACHES are one of the most common forms of chronic pain (second only to back troubles). Anyone who’s suffered the splitting pain of a headache — especially a migraine — knows how difficult it can be to drive, work, and even carry on a conversation while your head is pounding. But when a headache strikes, you can do more than just crawl into bed and wait for it to go away. There are effective headache treatments available and ways to find quick relief. Headache Treatment: Medications Just about any over-the-counter (OTC) pain reliever can offer relief for non-migraine headaches, also known as tension headaches, says Jack M. Rozental, MD, PhD, a migraine specialist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Medications that contain only one drug (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin) are an effective headache treatment, he says, as are those that include a combination of aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffeine. For those who suffer from frequent or recurring headaches, doctors sometimes recommend prescription-strength doses of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen. Indomethacin, an NSAID that is available only by prescription, is “usually used for arthritis, but can also be very useful as a headache treatment,” Dr. Rozental says. “Indomethacin’s downside is that it is among the drugs most likely to cause gastric irritation,” including stomach ulcers and bleeding. These prescription drugs are sometimes used to treat migraine headaches:
• Butalbital, a barbiturate often used in combination with acetaminophen, caffeine, aspirin, and/or codeine • Narcotics, such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, or codeine • Butorphanol, a narcotic nasal spray • Tramadol Unfortunately, the risk with many of these prescription drugs is that they can lead to substance abuse and dependence, Rozental says. Butorphanol, in particular, “should be avoided because of its very high propensity to cause dependence after even minimal use,” he explains. Frequent use of any pain reliever, including OTC drugs, can also cause what are known as rebound or medication-overuse headaches, says Rozental. To treat this type of headache, all pain-relieving medications must be stopped for at least three months. If you’re consistently taking large doses of OTC medications to treat recurrent headaches, talk to your doctor about your symptoms. Headache Treatment: Tips to Cope Fortunately, many headaches can be at least partially alleviated without medication, which will help minimize your need for pain relievers and reduce your risk of rebound headaches. Here are some tips for headache relief: • Close your eyes and rest. This is an effective headache treatment for a migraine headache, and can help ease a tension headache as well. Sit in a quiet, dark room with your eyes closed and just relax for a bit. “Patients with migraine instinctively seek out
a dark, quiet environment in which they can go to sleep for at least a few hours,” Rozental says. “Sleep frequently diminishes or eliminates the pain.” • Massage your neck and temples.Rubbing your neck and temples can improve blood flow and soothe tension headaches. • Warm up your neck Try putting a heating pad or a warm cloth around your neck and the base of your skull to ease tension headaches. If that doesn’t help, you can apply an ice pack instead to see if that brings you headache relief. • Relax. Meditate, breathe deeply, and try to visualize a peaceful image. “Various relaxation techniques can significantly help patients who suffer from ‘muscle contraction’ headaches,” says Rozental. • Minimize stress. If you have a bad headache, try to step away from stress, literally. Avoid noisy environments, leave work a little early if you can, or ask your partner to take care of chores or the kids. • Watch what you eat and drink. What you put into your body can have a big impact on your headaches. Rozental advises limiting caffeine and alcohol and avoiding cigarettes. He also says regular meals are important, especially for people who get headaches from low blood sugar. “Do not skip meals, particularly breakfast,” he urges. A headache can certainly put your activities on hold until you’re feeling better, but getting the right treatment can help you feel better, faster. Instead of trudging through your day with a headache, take time out to care for yourself.

Chairman, All Progress Congress, APC, Adamawa State chapter, Alhaji Babangida Telese, has said that Atiku does not have what it takes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari neither can he sponsor any candidate that can defeat the State Gov. Jibrilla Bindow come 2019.

Speaking in an interview with the Nigerian Pilot, yesterday in Yola, Telese described the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as a political lightweight who cannot win election in the three wards within his constituency, talk less of beating President Muhammadu Buhari in any race at all.

This follows the former Vice President’s recent claim that if given the chance to fly the PDP’s flag as the party’s Presidential candidate, he’s capable of defeating Buhari and capturing Adamawa State for PDP in 2019.

He said Atiku thinks he would be able to make a difference in a contest by surrounding himself with political lightweights and charlatans who do not even possess the basic tool in an election, the Permanent Voters Card, PVC.

He said most of the youths who follow him even during his mega rallies were rented crowd who would not make any impact during election proper.

Telese, said Atiku had since lost his political relevance in Adamawa politics, but that he was merely flaunting his past glory and day-dreaming about his assumed popularity.

According to him, the former Vice President had since become “a political rabble rouser who does not have the platform, the intellectual capability and mental ability to manage the affairs of Nigeria.

“The latest utterances have confirmed the fact that he is now a confused politician who is grabbing every opportunity to re-launch himself back into relevance.

”For over eight years, he has been sleeping in the presidency without pointing to any project he Atiku has executed under his watch as the Vice President that will positively impact on the lives of Nigerians and Adamawa people. This is a clear indication that he has nothing to offer. He is just being boastful.

“He has not executed any tangible constituency project for his Adamawa People. The good people of Adamawa are appreciating the recent contract award of Mayo Belwa, Jada, and Tpungo road by President Buhari even as they expressed confidence in Bindow’s achievements.

“Atiku’s dream to capture Adamawa State for PDP remains a tall dream that can never see the light of the day.”

Social Democratic Party, SDP in Adamawa state, today in Yola, vowed to capture the reins of power in the state in 2019. SDP leaders made the promise to cheering party stalwarts, shortly after electing new members of the Executive Committee of the party at all levels.

The leaders took turns to decry what they unanimously referred to as “mindless killings” across the country, describing the APC government as a total failure.

The new exco headed by John Muva emerged through affirmation by delegates drawn from Ward and local government congresses conducted earlier.

Chairman of the state congresses Committee, Barr Chris Njoku told newsmen that the hitch free congresses were taking place across the country simultaneously.

He also charged the new exco to work for the victory of the party in the state, stressing that SDP is poised to wrest power from the APC.

The party which is currently in court over Leadership tussle had been embroiled in crisis over a long period of time.

It all started when the former chairman, Ibrahim Bebetu was suspended on allegation of disregard to party hierarchy in Abuja.

The embattled chairman thereafter approached the court to seek redress. He aslo sought an exparte motion to stop the congress and was granted.

When asked about the exparte order stopping the congresses, the new chaiman, replied that the order lapsed four days ago, as according to him, “the life span of an exparte order is only seven days.

He furthered, “from available records the order was granted on the 16th of July and it expired on the 23rd of July”, he defended.

ICYMI: Hidden truth on the practice of oral se*x

$

With the rise of sexually active people, the practice of oral sex cannot be ignored, as many young people see this a s a must while engaging in sexual activities. Oral sex, sometimes referred to as ‘oral intercourse’ or ‘giving head,’ is sexual activity involving the stimulation of the genitalia of a person by another person using the mouth (including the lips, tongue or teeth) or throat. Oral sex performed on female genitals is referred to as cunnilingus while fellatio is oral sex performed on a male genital. Anilingus, on the other hand, another form of oral sex, is oral stimulation of a person’s anus. Oral stimulation of other parts of the body (as in kissing and licking) is usually not considered oral sex.
Oral sex may be performed as foreplay to incite sexual arousal before other sexual activities (such as vaginal or anal intercourse). Like most forms of sexual activity, oral sex can pose a risk for contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs/STDs). However, it is believed that the transmission risk for oral sex, especially HIV transmission, is significantly lower than for vaginal or anal sex.
Oral sex is often regarded as taboo, but most countries do not have laws which ban the practice. In Africa it’s known as sexual pervasion by most religious bodies as it is ascribed as a practise conceived by homosexuals. Oral sex is majorly given by the female folks to the male as most men refuse to give same to the females. A typical example being the social media trend of May where pop star Dj Khaled said he was king thus he doesn’t go down there.
This article seeks to find answers to the practise, is it one that should be stopped or that should be encouraged. If the myths associated with the practise are true or false, what are the dangers of this practise? All these and more would be answered in this article.
Our correspondent spoke with a doctor from Wuse general hospital Abuja who pleaded to remain anonymous, that debunked the claims indicating that oral sex reduces the chances of having major infection like HIV and AIDS.
“That’s not true because the way you get infection is through body fluids. When the man has it or the woman has it, it can infect the sexual partner, especially from the recipient. The man that is infected that someone is having oral sex with can easily get it. But looking at it the other way round, the mouth has saliva, and dentation and all that so it’s not an absolute statement to say it reduces it or not. If the sperm that is in the mouth is infected then, you can contact because the mouth sometimes has rapid effect that is why sometimes we administer drugs orally.

Can oral sex improve the body e.g help add weight or smoothen the skin?
The semen is made up of many things, the spermatozoa, the semen fluid and other things. The type of protein it contains is not the type that nourishes the body. Maybe the practitioners want to encourage others.

Can oral sex reduce the chances of getting breast cancer?
Breast cancer is an independent cancer, saying oral sex reduces the risk is not true because there is no connection. There are risk factors although we don’t know the cause, the factors are family issues, drugs and all that but oral sex no. if you say cancer of the cervix then yes because it has been related to cervical sex. That’s why nuns who are virgins don’t usually have cancer of the cervix. Talking about cancer of the throat yes because there are so many mechanism that are involved so it increases the chances because the human papillomavirus (HPV) or herpes, hormonal virus can come into play so one having oral sex and swallowing the sperm is dangerous. Oral sex itself is a way of sexual behaviour so people who do it do it for various reasons maybe because of the pleasure they have from it or others. So it has its advantage and its disadvantage

Is it advisable to practise oral sex?
Like I said earlier oral sex is a way of sexual behaviour from the health aspect it is better to avoid oral sex because the usual root of virginal intercourse is patterned in a way that it is pleasurable for sexual intercourse, and helps to combat infections because of its floral. These Flora’s are not available when practising oral sex. The way the mouth was built is not for sexual intercourse so there are many other infections one can get through oral sex.

Impressive benefits of tomatoes
The health benefits of tomatoes include eye care, good stomach health, and a reduced blood pressure. They provide relief from diabetes, skin problems, and urinary tract infections too. Furthermore, they improve digestion, stimulate blood circulation, reduce cholesterol levels, improve fluid balance, protect the kidneys, detoxify the body, prevent premature aging, and reduce inflammation. Tomatoes consist of a large number of antioxidants that have been proven to fight different forms of cancer. They are also a rich source of vitamins and minerals and exert a protective effect against cardiovascular diseases.

What is a tomato?
Tomato is considered both, a fruit and a vegetable and forms an integral part of cuisines across the globe, especially in the Mediterranean region. Daily consumption of tomatoes provides a great boost to the health, along with improving the flavor of food. You can find them in different foods like pasta, pizzas, ketchup, and various beverages. They are relatively easy to cultivate and grow very quickly, making them a great food source, which is a big reason why tomatoes are a staple food for many nations.
The scientific name of tomatoes is Solanum lycopersicum and they are believed to be native to Mexico. However, the Spanish colonization of America and Central America caused tomato cultivation to spread. They are an annual nightshade plant and grow in clusters of small to moderately sized, round red fruits. They have soft, pinkish red flesh and a number of seeds, as well as a slightly sweet taste. They are considered both, vegetables and fruits and weigh approximately four ounces.
Nowadays, tomatoes are grown in countries all over the world and there are thousands of cultivars and varieties that can provide you with unique health benefits. Let’s explore a few of the reasons why they are such a valuable food item for humanhealth.

Tomatoes nutrition facts
The health benefits of tomatoes can be attributed to their wealth of nutrients and vitamins, including an impressive amount of vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin K, as well as significant amounts of vitamin B6, folate and thiamine.

Health Benefits of Tomatoes
The health benefits of tomatoes have been known to mankind since ancient times. They are rich sources of antioxidants that have been proven to be effective against many forms of cancer. Let’s discuss the benefits in detail.

Antioxidant Agent
Tomato contains a large amount of lycopene, an antioxidant that is highly effective in scavenging cancer-causing free radicals. This benefit can even be obtained from heat-processed tomato products like ketchup. The lycopene in tomatoes defends against cancer and has been shown to be effective in fighting prostate cancer, cervical cancer, cancer of the stomach and rectum as well as pharynx and esophageal cancers. It also protects against breast and mouth cancer, according to studies published by the Harvard School of Public Health.

Rich Source of Vitamins and Minerals
A single tomato can provide about 40% of the daily vitamin C requirement.Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant which prevents cancer-causing free radicals from damaging the body’s systems. It also contains abundant vitamin A and potassium, as well as iron. Potassium plays a vital role in maintaining nerve health and iron is essential for maintaining normal blood circulation. Vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting and controlling bleeding, is also abundant in tomatoes.

Protect the Heart
The lycopene in tomatoes prevents serum lipid oxidation, thus exerting a protective effect against cardiovascular diseases. A regular consumption of tomatoes has been proven to decrease the levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. These lipids are the key culprits in cardiovascular diseases and lead to the deposition of fats in the blood vessels.

Counter the Effect of Smoking Cigarette
The coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid, in tomatoes, fight against nitrosamines, which are the main carcinogens found in cigarettes. The presence of vitamin A in high quantities has been shown to reduce the effects of carcinogens and can protect you against lung cancer.

Improve Vision
Vitamin A, present in tomatoes, aids in improving vision and preventing night-blindness and macular degeneration. Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant that can be formed from an excess of beta-carotene in the body. A lot of vision problems occur due to the negative effects of free radicals and vitamin A, being a powerful antioxidant, can help prevent them.

Aid in Digestion
Tomatoes keep the digestive system healthy by preventing both constipation and diarrhea. They also prevent jaundice and effectively remove toxins from the body. Furthermore, they have a large amount of fiber, which can bulk the bowels and reduce symptoms of constipation. A healthy amount of fiber helps stimulate peristaltic motion in the smooth digestive muscles and release gastric and digestive juices. This can regulate your bowel movements, thereby improving your overall digestive health and helping you avoid conditions like colorectal cancer.

Lower Hypertension
Consuming a tomato daily reduces the risk of developing hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. This is partially due to the impressive levels of potassium found in tomatoes. Potassium is a vasodilator, meaning that it reduces the tension in blood vessels and arteries, thereby increasing circulation and lowering the stress on the heart by eliminating hypertension.

Manage Diabetes
A study conducted by the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that daily consumption of tomatoes reduces the oxidative stress of type 2 diabetes.

Skin Care
Tomatoes aid in maintaining healthy teeth, bones, hair, and skin. Topical application of tomato juice is even known to cure severe sunburns. Daily consumption protects the skin against UV-induced erythema. They rank high in the preparation of anti-aging products.

Prevent Urinary Tract Infections
Tomato intake reduces the incidence of urinary tract infections, as well as bladder cancer. This is because tomatoes are high in water content, which can stimulate urination; hence, they are a diuretic. This increases the elimination of toxins from the body, as well as excess water, salts, uric acid, and some fats as well

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday approved 10-years validity on Nigerian passports issued in the country, from the normal five-years.

This was revealed by the Comptroller-general of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede on Thursday at the Ikoyi passport office in Lagos, where he also said that the president has approved improved security features and quality for the passport booklets.

“He (Buhari) has approved 10-year validity for passports which is great news. When the report comes, passports will be valid for 10 years which is great news especially for adults from the age of 18 and above,” Babandede said.

Babandede noted that the development will have people to pay more to get the passport and the e-passport system security features will be improved which will ease the stress of renewing passports.

“People will pay more if they can pay more and get the booklets quickly, it’s good with improved security for 10 years validity.”

“You can’t keep documents for 10 years without seeing decreased values in them, so we are improving the security features which would raise the standards of the passports.”

“And we will ensure it is done before the end of this year because the booklet has to change,” he added.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC in Kudu Ward, Kontagora local government area of Niger State, Alhaji Awwal Madgyan has advised people of the ward and council area in general to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, PVC before the expiration of collection date so as to be able to choose their leaders during exercise.

Madgyan particularly called on the electorate to acquaint themselves with all political parties, those willing to contest various positions from local, state to national level and ascertain what they had to offer and to equip themselves with information that would engender active participation in the elections.

The APC stalwart added that “this is the right time for every eligible voter to work to understand the electoral processes and update themselves with happenings in the political atmosphere so as not to make wrong choices when the time comes again to elect their leaders or representatives”.

“This is the time for Nigerians to get to start knowing who the aspirants are and making the right decisions based on issues around them or what they have done for those who are not coming out for the first time”, he said..

Madgyan further admonished them not to relax until the process is over, emphasizing that the right time for them to get registered as voters and be armed with their PVCs is now so as to make the right decision in 2019.

“The only electoral power owned by the electorate is their permanent voters’ card. If you do not have voter card, how can you change the system for good”, he asked.

The party chairman, however, assured that elected members at local, state, federal legislators will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to their constituencies.

He therefore urged them to rally support for a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba aka Mai Solar representing Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Masheg Federal Constituency of Niger State for another term in the Green Chamber based on his achievements.

“Hon. Garba is a politician to beat any day, anytime, anywhere; he is the most popular politician in Niger North politically acknowledged as Zone C”. He has delivered on his popular mandate and still seeking re-election into the green chambers come 2019, we must, as a matter of priority get our PVCS to enable us vote for him en mass in the 2019 Election.

“He has since been putting smiles on the faces of the people he is representing at the lower legislative chamber through the various gifts and empowerment. Due to his widely acclaimed generosity and philanthropy, he needs the support and votes of our people once again for him to deliver more dividends of democracy to them”, Madgyan said.
The party chairman assured the electorate that Garba will continue to deliver his electoral promises to them with qualitative representation in the National Assembly.

DEPUTY Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, has assured Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State that the people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone are solidly behind him in his second tenure bid.

Ekweremadu, who said this weekend at Awgu, the headquarters of Awgu Local Government Area of the state during the official inauguration of Gburu Gburu Movement, Awgu Chapter, pointed out that he needed not to come to Awgu to campaign because the entire Enugu West are for him.

To buttress the assertion, Ekweremadu promised that they would purchase nomination form for him to recontest the governorship position come 2019, adding that no person from the zone would buy form to challenge him.

Speaking for the people of Enugu West, Ekweremadu had this to say: “Enugu West has said that you are going. In 2019, no person from Enugu West will buy form to contest with you. We in Enugu West will buy the form for you and deliver you,” Ekweremadu said.

Speaking in like manner, member representing Awgu, Aninri, Oji River Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, lauded Ugwuanyi’s style of governance as said that he was okay.

Okechukwu also said that Ugwuanyi should go to sleep over his second term ambition because Awgu people are with him.

“Our people say that you are okay. Awgu has always been different. I have come to give you certificate of return. Come rain, come shine, Awgu has said no shaken,” Okechukwu who spoke on behalf of other legislators from the zone assured.

The PDP chairman, Awgu Local Government Area, Okey Udeh, in his speech said that their support for Gov. Ugwuanyi is because his administration has brought security of lives and property in Awgu and Enugu in general.

Udeh said that more support groups other than the Gburu Gburu Support Group, should be formed to ensure smooth sailing for Governor Ugwuanyi, come 2019.

The Gburu Gburu Support Group coordinator/director general, Isaac Egu while extolling Ugwuanyi’s leadership qualities said that their work of mobilising people for his re-election had been made easier because he had done a lot in the three years he has been on the saddle as a governor.

“We are solidly behind you. We don’t have much work to do for you to be returned. As a performing governor, you will go back especially because of the prompt payment of salaries because we have seen that the payment of salaries have been an issue in Nigeria,” he said.

Gov. Ugwuanyi who was happy for the turnout of people who defied a heavy downpour to welcome him, said that the people should pray for him and the Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu to succeed. “As you are praying for me, pray for Ekweremadu also,” he said.

Ugwuanyi wondered why people are after Ekweremadu, who by the grace of God, emerged Deputy Senate President thrice.

“It is not by his power that he became the Deputy Senate President. Let me ask you, is there anything he has done wrong that he is Deputy Senate President?” he asks.

No land for Fulani herdsmen in Oyo… Govt

Oyo State government ,over the weekend laid to rest the speculation that it had allocated some hectares of land to the Fulani herdsmen in the state for ranching as directed by the Federal Government .

The Oyo state Commissioner for Land and Survey, Mr Isaac Ajibola Omodewu made the clarification at the Guest Forum of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ,NUJ, Correspondents’ Chapel in Ibadan, where he made his intension to contest as governor of the state in 2019.

Omodewu emphasized that “Senator Ajimobi had appointed me as commissioner about seven years ago, and I spent about five years as commissioner of land I am very bold to tell you that Oga ( Ajimobi) had never told me as an individual or discussed the issue of giving land to Fulani herdsmen for ranching in this state in our weekly meetings.

“Oyo state government agreed that Fulani and other ethnic groups in this Country are free to live in this state and transact their legitimate businesses without fear of any intimidation , we have been having the Fulani rearing their animals in our midst before, but with the new development where it was stated that the Fulani herdsmen were killing innocent people on daily bases , Oyo government will not give them land for ranches .”.

On his ambition to contest as the next governor of the state ,Mr Omodewu stated ” among the people aspiring to be the governor of this state, I am the most qualified person. To start with ,I am the most experienced among them because i have be in government with as commissioner for the past seven years. Secondly, I have been in politics since I was a toddler. My Daddy was a follower of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and late Chief Bola Ige during Action Group party and The Unity Party of Nigeria ,UPN.

“I sincerely believe that this is the time for us in Oyo to copy Lagos state. If you can all remember , Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the current political dispensation laid the foundation of the modern Lagos State when he contested and won under the Alliance for Democracy ,AD ,which is a progressive party. He was succeeded by another progressive man, Barrister Babatunde Fasola SAN and Akinwumi Ambode another progressive man succeeded Fasola . Lagos is a role model of States, including the federal government today in Nigeria. ”

Omodewu emphasized that he will build on the achievements of Senator Ajimobi in development of the state within six months of assuming office.

The governorship aspirant, an All Progressive Congress APC member promised to work on internally generated revenue and make sure it increase enough for easy development of the state .

According to Omodewu “all of you will remember what happened during the regime of Obasanjo, how he denied Lagos State her monthly allocation from the Federal Government for years ,our leader ,Asiwaju Tinubu expanded the opportunity for IGR at the end Lagos became financially sufficient and independent .”.

APC governorship aspirant said he will like to invest more on education, health (because health is wealth); transportation especially rail and road for easy transportation of farm produce ,industry and agriculture.

Omodewu noted that in Oyo there is a lot of land for mechanized farming and if properly utilized ,the state can produce the food that can feed the country.

Hon. Ashiru who conducted the tours/meeting with officials from seven Local Government Areas, LGAs, and their Wards officials in Zone One of Kaduna State, was accorded a rousing welcome by members, a statement issued by the media crew of the aspirant has revealed.

Hon. Isa Ashiru, who recently returned to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from the APC, stated that “It was his first leg of his scheduled meeting to 23 PDP party offices in the 23 LGAs of the state.

Ashiru, who was twice Appropriation Committee Chairman of Kaduna State House of Assembly (1999-2007) and twice Deputy Chairman, Appropriation Committee of the House of Representatives (2007 – 2015), kicked off the consultation tour with Giwa, headquarters of Giwa LGAs where a throng of his supporters and PDP faithful received him and his large entourage at the PDP premises.

“Former Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Ben Bako, who was the moderator of the meetings, informed the gathering, that, “this is not a campaign rally. Before we come for campaign, we will give three days’ notice to parents to keep their children at home, because the human flood that will come down here will sweep little children away. This is just to consult with our delegates, though we are very happy to see you turn out in such a large number,” he said in Hausa.

Ambassador Sule Buba, Director General of the Hon. Isa Ashiru Campaign Organisation, HIACO, told the excited crowd in Hausa that, “We are not here to campaign. We are here to consult with our delegates who will decide on who gets the ticket of the PDP to oust the current bad governance and suffering in Kaduna state,” he said.

“You cannot link Ashiru with anything in his political career spanning two decades other than development, goodwill and respect to his constituency. If Sen. Ahmed Makarfi remains the best governor that Kaduna State has ever produced, most of you know that the secret of his success was because of the Appropriation Committee Chairman during his tenure. Isa Ashiru did not only cooperate with him, but ensured that all the appropriated funds were truly spent on the entire project paid for,” he said.

“He knows all the nooks, depths and heights in the state and as such understands the challenges facing each zone and communities of the state because of his oversight works that covered every community in this state,” he added.

“After two attempts to become the governor in 2015, the same reasons he wanted to govern Kaduna State has only gotten worse, so he was approached once more to come and save the state from total collapse,” he said.

Revisit expulsion of Senator Buruji, Hon Adekoya tells PDP …Says Party may lose Ogun in 2019

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Land Transport, Hon Adesugun Abdel-Majid Adekoya has called on the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to revisit the expulsion of Senator Kashamu Buruji and three others from the party.

Senator Buruji, Bayo Dayo, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo and Prince Segun Seriki were all suspended by the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the PDP at its 80th emergency meeting held on July 23 over alleged anti-party activities.

Reacting to the expulsion of the PDP chieftains, Hon Adekoya, who is representing Ijebu-North/Ijebu-East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, said in a letter to the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, that the party stand at great risk of losing the entire Ogun State in 2019 if the leadership of the party does not have a rethink over the expulsion of Senator Buruji and others.

He emphasized that Senator Buruji played a pivotal role in the victory of PDP in parts of Ogun state against a sitting APC governor and his expulsion will pitch his massive followers against PDP as they “have either been isolated or equally stand expelled.”

“It is my considered opinion that this decision is hasty and ill-advised specially at this point in the life of our great party when all hands should be an the deck to heal wounds, build synergy, consensus, and reconcile all aggrieved members. Politics is about numbers and every politics is local. My Chairman Sir, in politics, somebody’s Terrorist is another person’s Freedom Fighter.

“It should be noted that the said Prince Buruji Kashamu is a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing nine Local Government Council Areas out of twenty (20): eleven (11) State Constituencies our of twenty-six (26) Cid one hundred and three (103) electoral wards out of two hundred aid thirty-six (236).

“The import of his expulsion however is that most at these political constituents, including our party members who voted for him massively in the 2015general election have either been isolated or equally stand expelled. This does not portray party in good light.

“Today, our party is standing in opposition to a desperate ruling political party which is in government, and we cannot afford this descent into the dangerous temptation of reducing our political strength and advantage; especially where matters of the law are concerned.

“I would have thought our party would weigh in on the test of popularity of its actions among the voting masses in the Senatorial district before taking on such action and not fall into the trap of intrigues played by desperate members of the party whose singular objective is to hijack the party structure which they felt is in the hands and firm control of the Ogun State Senator.”

Hon Adekoya lamented that it appears the national leadership of the party did not take into consideration the huge contributions of Senator Buruji to the electoral fortunes of Senator Buruji before taking the hasty decision to expel him.

“It is instructive to note that Senator Kashamu had stood for the party when it mattered most, committing huge sums of his financial and material resources to stabilize the party at a time when fewer men will not dare, not only in Ogun State, but in the entire South West which has earned him fanatical supporters and followership across the region.

“PDP stands to lose more than gain in the South West without his active support especially if he succumbs to the overwhelming pressure being mounted on him by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which he had constantly rebuffed due to the pressure some of us have also be mounting to deter him from such alliance.

“We felt strongly that every zone and regions need somebody moulded in his character who am defend the Interests of the party and its members against desperate opposition, especially at this time.

“It is equally unthinkable and not known to our laws and constitution that any member, most especially a serving Senator and a strong party member like Prince Buruji Kashamu could be wittingly expelled without fair hearing. This does not portend a good image for our party and can be demoralizing to all its members.

“We should be reminded that Senator Kashamu was at the vanguard of those who got the present Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Foyose elected In 2014: he equally delivered nine (9) members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, two (2) members of the Home of Representatives, and one (1) Senator to the PDP in the 2015 elections in Ogun State even under the watch of a sitting Governor who belongs to an opposing party.”

Hon Adekoya further added in the letter which was copied to the BoT Chairman, Secretary and Chief Shuaibu Oyedokun, that some desperate politicians may be behind the travails of Senator Buruji over their quest to control the PDP structure in Ogun State as a result of personal ambition.

“I am a serving member of the House of Representatives representing one of the three (3) Federal Constituencies under the Ogun East senatorial district, Just like my friend and brother, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu (whose sole aim and latest conduct in desperate aspiration is to assume the leadership of our party in the state to further his governorship ambition in 2019)

“I have no objection to any politician, not even a House of Representatives to seek for any higher political office or aspire to return or contest for any post but l hold strongly that our party is too big and it is inappropriate that structure of our party at any level should be surrendered to the whims and caprices of an individual representing just one out of the entire nine (9) Federal Constituency simply for the sole pursuit of personal ambition to become a Governor.
“I consider it that it is in my political interest, and that of thousands of our party members in Ogun State for the National Executive Committee and National Working Committee to institute a perfect leadership structure for our party in the state, such that will not isolate other members by surrendering their fate into the hands of political merchants.”

“My advice and suggestion is coming from my experience, which I have gathered over the years and I think it will be in the best interest of our party to rethink this singular decision which I believe cannot be in the overall interests of our party members when even the party which is in government are scouting for members and trying very hard to retain its customary memberships.

“I will advise that this decision should be revisited especially if it is the desire of the PDP to participate and win the 2019 elections in Ogun State.”
