Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has said that the technical crew will not subcomb to any act of favouritism in the selection of players for the African Nations Championship, CHAN as everything would be based on merit.
Amokachi who has been in charge of the team’s training since the departure of the Coach Stephen Keshi who travelled to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA world cup draws said each player has to prove himself as the best will be selected to represent the country in South Africa next year.
The former Super Eagles forward told the invited players that there will be no favouritism in the final selection of players as the Coaches will follow the standard set during the Africa Cup of Nations tournament which the Eagles won earlier in the year.
The thirty players in the preliminary squad include regulars like Chigozie Agbim, Sunday Mba and Benjamin Francis as well as returnees Gbolahan Salami and Ejike Uzoenyi.
The new faces in camp include the Golden Eaglets trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Dele Alampasu and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Goal keeper trainer, Ike Shoromu said yesterday that the Dele Alampasu is learning fast as the senior national team is different from the cadet team, noting that the trio stand the chance of being selected for the South Africa tournament.
