Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, on Sunday, died in a ghastly motor accident in front of Mopol 31 Base, Ogwashi-uku in Aniocha South Local Government Council Area of the state.

The late Uyabeme, who hails from Emu community in Ndokwa West local government council area of the state, was on that fateful Sunday returning from the burial of his uncle, to Asaba, before he met his untimely death.

According to an eyewitness account, the late PPRO was said to have been driving on a High Lander Jeep with two other occupants; a man and a woman, when the car somersaulted severally and the late Uyabeme sustained several injuries that led to his death at a spot, while others who were unconscious were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba for treatment.

“Immediately the occupants were removed from the wreckage car, the car went up in flames”, he said.

When our correspondent visited the state Police Command Headquarters, Asaba, to ascertain the cause of the accident, some police officers were seen in groups wearing moody look and discussing in hush-hush voice, while his office was busy with visitors who heard the sad news of his death.

It was very shocking when the news of his death filtered the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Asaba yesterday.

Seeing journalists in groups discussing the ugly incident that befell their colleague and friend of the media, late Lucky Uyabeme has been described as one of the best image-makers that the state police has ever had.

According to Journalists that spoke to our correspondent in Asaba yesterday, the late PPRO was a hardworking, transparent, jolly good fellow and a man that effectively managed communication in terms of policing that always responded to issues whenever called upon by journalists.

As at the time of filing this report, the corpse of Late Uyabeme has been deposited in the mortuary while the injured occupants were lying critically in the hospital receiving treatment.
