Dekina District Development Association, DDDA, has appealed to the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, to hasten the planned construction of Lokoja- Shintaku Bridge for rapid and sporadic development of the state.
The chairman of the Association, Mr. Jackson Ocheje, made the appeal in Lokoja yesterday at the reception organised in honour of political appointees from the area.
Mr. Ocheje commended Governor Wada for his developmental strides, especially in the upgrading of cottage hospital at Odu-Ogboyaga, the return and installation of the paramount ruler, Attamadu, in the area as well as electrification of communities in the district.
“We are happy with what our son, the governor, had done so far in terms of infrastructural development in the state and we are calling on the aggrieved to close rank with him to enable him achieve more”, he stressed.
While calling for collaborative effort between the political office holders from the area in order to promote peace and development, the group equally appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to take a look at the entire Dekina Local Government Area and create more constituencies in the interest of equity and justice.
Earlier, the state commissioner for Health, Dr. Idris Omede, commended the host for the honour done to him and other appointees from the area.
The commissioner pleaded with the association, saying that he was aware of the expectation of their people, especially as regards the attraction of social amenities to the area.
The commissioner therefore assured that the present administration will not leave any stone unturned in order to improve the lots of the people from the area.
