Ahead of their second leg tie against Tunisia this weekend during qualifiers for the 2014 U-20 Female World Cup, House Committee on Sports Chairman, Hon Godfrey Ali Gaiya has charged Nigeria’s Falconets to make the country proud by beating Tunisia and going qualifying for the tourney.

Gaiya, who gave the charge at the National Stadium, Abuja early morning on Wednesday during the team’s training session, promised them of Federal Government’s support via the Nigerian Football Federation in their quest for world glory next year.

“First, I want to apologise for not coming to see you before and during your first leg encounter against Tunisia owing to some clash in events. My thoughts and heart were with you all the way and I was so glad to have learnt of the result of which you beat them 4-0.”

“I want to, however, encourage you not to relent in your efforts at making the nation proud. The federal government is behind you and we will continue to provide everything necessary through the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to make sure you succeed” he said.

Responding on behalf of the team, captain Patience Okeme assured of the team’s zeal to seal their qualification for next year’s World Cup, saying that the team was even more buoyed by the visit of the Legislator.

“I can assure you, sir that we are very ready to complete the job in Tunisia and we are very excited on your visit today. By the grace of God we will do the country proud” she enthused.

The Falconets had defeated their counterparts from Tunisia 4-0 in the second round first leg qualifying match of the 2014 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup last weekend in Abuja.

The team, however, departs for Tunisia today in preparation for the return leg in Tunis on Sunday.
