Kwara Assembly to collaborate with NBA on judicial autonomy

Kwara House of Assembly on Friday said it would collaborate with the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to ensure total autonomy for the judiciary in the country.
Speaker of the House, Rasaq Atunwa gave this assurance in his office while receiving the Ilorin branch Executive Members of the NBA in Ilorin.
He said that the move had become imperative to further strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
Atunwa explained that the nation’s democratic institutions could only be strengthened when all the three arms of government were independent.
He also pledged the assembly’s collaboration with the association to ensure quality legislation.
Earlier, Ojibara had called for more involvement of legal practitioners in the state legislative activities to further ensure quick passage of bills.
Ojibara commended the legislators for ensuring cordial relationship between the three arms of government in the state.
