Kwara State appropriation bill of over N 124 billion for the 2014 budget proposal yesterday sailed through second reading on the floor of the state house of assembly with majority of members calling for speedy passage of the bill.
Speaking on the floor of the house, the Majority Leader, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu AbdulKareem moved the motion for the second reading of the bill which was seconded by the member representing Ekiti constituency, Mrs Ebun Owolabi.
All the members who made contributed during the debate on the bill including the only Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, member in the House, Alhaji AbdulFatai Salman called for the speedy passage of the budget.
Meanwhile, a member representing Ojomu Balogun constituency, Mr. Tope Layonu, urged the state Government to de-emphasis relying on monthly allocation from the Federal Government and improve more on internally generated revenue, IGR.
He lawmaker noted that most projects slated for completion in the 2013 budget are yet to be completed and called for proper implementation and monitoring of the 2014 budget
Also, Hajia Raliat Adifa who represents Lanwa-Ejidongari constituency urged the state to ensure that the job creation in the budget is implemented and cut across the three senatorial districs of the state to reduce high number of unemployed in the state.
The lawmaker who noted that several Communities in the state are still experiencing acute water shortage called for implementation of provision of portable water to Communities that needed it.
