Girl’s Power Initiative, GPI, a youth development organization has extended Family Life, HIV/AIDS Education (FLHE) to more schools in Cross River.
About 120 girls from different secondary schools participated in the training programmed organized by the organization.
The 3-day training programme was also attended by teachers (Peer Educators and Counselors) from selected schools.
Helen Kanu, Head Youth Development Department, (GPI) the programme was specifically designed to equip participants (especially female students) with requisite information that will assist them grow into responsible adults.
According to her, ‘the aim is to equip them with information, skills and knowledge to remain healthy focused human beings while transiting into womanhood.’
Ms. Kanu disclosed that the participants will be equip ‘with skills to face the challenges of growing up and also improve communication between them and their teachers.’
She noted that the training will further increase their knowledge on Family Life, HIV/AIDS Education as well as ‘other human rights issues.’
