The Plateau House of Assembly on Friday passed a budget of N213 billion as against the N228.7 billion presented by Gov. Jonah Jang for services in 2014.

The House reduced the budget by N15.7 billion but failed to give reasons for its decision.

A breakdown showed that out of the N81.6 billion budgeted for recurrent expenditure by the governor, the assembly approved N81.1 billion, and approved N131 billion out of the N147.1billion budgeted for capital expenditure.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Mr Yakubu Choji (PDP), accused some ministries, departments and agencies of over-spending their budget size without recourse to the assembly for approval.

After the third reading of the budget, the Speaker, Mr Titus Alams, said that the budget targeted the completion of all ongoing projects in the state.

“This budget is made up of a total recurrent expenditure of N81.1 billion and a capital provision of N131 billion.

“So, Mr Clerk, you should produce a clean copy to be forwarded to the governor for his assent.
