3 Ekiti councils win prizes for IGR

Deputy governor of Ekiti State, Prof.ModupeAdelabu, has said that the introduction of Medium term Expenditure Framework , MTEF, in the local government areas has aligned local governments with the state government policy direction and set a new paradigm that identified each activities and projects to be embarked upon in any particular year, using budget platform.

Prof.Adelabu made the remarks in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital yesterday at the public presentation of local governments Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF, 2014 – 2016 documents and local governments Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, award ceremony.

Prof.Adelabu   noted that MTEF is expected to institutionalize community driven projects selection and budgeting process.

According to her, the effect of MTEF is that the communities buy-in and take ownership of such facilities and the attendant post implementation sustenance, which has provided a feed back device from the populace as to whether targets set were met.

The deputy governor who called for more support, cooperation and collaboration from the development partners in the state, pointed out that Ekiti State has constantly called for both local and international investors, whose confidence we hope would further kindled by the integrity of the document and their avowed belief in the principle of public-private partnership initiative.

In his welcome remarks, the Commissioner, Ministry of local government affairs, Barrister Paul Omotoso, noted that the participatory government at the local government levels in the state premised on the 8-point agenda of the present administration in EkitiState, has made MTEF to work very well at the grassroots.
