The Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) Alhaji Bature Umar Masari has said the agency will forge a formidable synergy with the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) aimed at creating more entrepreneurial awareness among the numerous registered engineers and also to inculcate in them innovative and resilient spirit that would produce more engineering entrepreneurs.
Masari made this remark while welcoming the President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi during a courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of the Agency in Abuja on 20th February 2014.
He urged the society to key into and contributes positively to the recently launched National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) in which they have a great role to play.
The Director General however thanked the President for the visit and extolled the contribution of Society to the development of building,infrastructure and regulation of various aspect of Nigerian engineering research and construction to conform to standard and cost effectiveness.
He told the NSE president that SMEDAN has a lot to learn from their collaboration and that the recently launched National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) by Mr. President is a holistic approach that would create business opportunities to our teeming youths, create millions of jobs, reduce poverty, increase the national gross domestic product as many people would be gainfully employed in various jobs while many will equally initiate and create jobs on their own and this will lead to multiplier effect of multiple jobs and entrepreneurship development.
Masari enjoined them to utilize the opportunities that abound in 23 Industrial Development Centers(IDC) scattered in Nigeria which would be turned to MSME Parks to further their technological development and can serve as business hub or clusters to entrepreneurs in the engineering fields.
