Newly appointed Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Mallam has said that she is keying into the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan with a view to ensuring that erosion, desertification, air pollution and other environmental hazards are reduced to the barest minimum.
According to a statement signed by Deputy Director Press, in the Ministry, Ben Bem Goong, the minister stated this yesterday when she assumed duty in Abuja.
‘‘Our ultimate goal is to ensure that Nigerians enjoy a decent environment, free from man- made hazards, while mitigating environmental consequences arising from natural disasters to the barest minimum”, she said.
In an interactive meeting with the management and staff of the Ministry, Mrs. Mallam stated that she believed in team work, adding that she will carry along all stakeholders including management and staff of the Ministry in the discharge of her duties.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Taiye Haruna had told the Minister that the Environment family will render its unquantified support to ensure that the Minister’s tenure is a huge success.
