Proposed second campus of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, would be named after the First Lady, Patience Jonathan.
Chairman of the governing council of the institution, Hon. Christopher Enweremadu, revealed this while the council was on a courtesy call to Governor Theodore, in Umuahia.
Enweremadu, who thanked the governor for their appointment as members of the governing council, commended the governor for increasing the institution’s monthly subvention from N25 million to N90 million.
While pledging his support for the federal government to take over the institution, Orji said Abia state was one of the states in the South-eastern zone without a federal polytechnic and a federal college of education.
He said the major reason for sitting the school in Aba was to produce manpower that would take care of the technical need of Aba people, who, he said, are engaged in different kinds of industrial and manufacturing activities.
He stated that education was very essential for the devel opment of the state in both trade and industry.
Orji commended the governing council for its unrelenting efforts in the management of the school.
