A faction of Ogun State chapter of Labour Party loyal to former Governor Gbenga Daniel, has alleged that the national publicity secretary of the party, Chief Ikpe Etokudo was causing confusion in the party structure of the state.
The party’s spokesperson was in Abeokuta a fortnight ago to address a press conference, where he told Journalists that the National Working Committee has not handed over the party structure in Ogun State to Daniel.
But in a statement signed yesterday by a factional secretary, Micheal Adegbola, the party described the press conference as one aimed at feeding the public with wrong information.
“As a disciplined political party it is absurd to create unnecessary confusion within the party and make things look as if there is crisis. It is crystal clear that the purported statement by the estranged National Publicity Secretary was meant to feed the public with wrong information and create confusion among members of the Ogun State Labour Party. He should advice the younger ones in the State to be more disciplined to party structure and guiding principles,” it said.
Interpreting a recent ruling by a Lagos High Court where Justice C. Aneke ordered status quo to remain, the faction maintained that the other factional leader remained suspended.
