Kano State Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso yesterday launched the Kano Amana Travel and Tours Company, as part of efforts to exploit potentials of the travel industry, as a major component of tourism.
Incorporated with a share capital of N35 million, the company, which is fully certified by the International Air Transport Association, IATA, will be managed by 14 skilled travel agency graduates from the Kano Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies.
Launching the company at Kano Government House, Kwankwaso revealed that the company had been incorporated with a share capital of N35 million.
He said the government was encouraged to establish the company, given the vintage position of Kano as a commercial nerve centre in Northern Nigeria.
The governor, therefore, called on the public, private establishments and airlines companies to patronise the company, to guarantee its sustainability and to support the government’s drive for job creation and poverty alleviation.
The governor stated that his administration was working tirelessly to bring back the lost glory of Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, adding that efforts were on to bring more international airlines to commence full flight operations from the airport.
Director-General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, represented by Alhaji Ashiru Alaya, praised the government of Kano state for investing in the travel and tourism sector, with a view to empowering youths.
Coordinator of the Kano Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Alhaji Zakari Bagwai Bagwai, said the institute had trained 1,482 people, who had been empowered by the government.
