Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU, Prof. Hilary Edeoga, has warned new students into the institution against indulging in same sex union and other anti-social behaviours to enable them have a smooth sail in their academic pursuit.

Edeoga, who handed down the warning during the 21st matriculation of the school at the ceremonial pavilion, said any student caught indulging in any anti-social behaviour would be shown the way out.

He enjoined the students to commit their “time and talents to only those things that will ensure that you enjoy sound academic and moral training from this university which will secure your future and better your lot,” emphasising that his management has zero tolerance for all forms of indiscipline.

The vice chancellor declared that the privileges and rights conferred on the freshmen through the matriculation ritual could be withdrawn any time the behaviour of a student was adjudged to be inimical to the progress of the school.

He, however, assured them that the management would give priority to their welfare, promising that more hostels and lecture theatres would be provided to meet the accommodation needs of the school. He also said that intra-campus bus shuttles would be introduced to enhance students’ mobility.

Edeoga commended President Goodluck Goodluck Jonathan for the transformation he has brought to the education sector.

About 5, 000 students took the matriculation oath and were formally admitted into the 11 colleges and two schools of the university.
