Former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Iyiola Omisore, yesterday emerged as the winner of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP gubernatorial primary election in Osun State.

Omisore, among other four gubernatorial aspirants, got 1,128 votes, another aspirant, Hon. Wole Oke, scored five (5) votes, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi scored 35 votes while Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke got no vote.

About 1280 delegates voted out of the 1380 delegates.

It would be recalled that, barely 14 hours before the commencement of the primary election, Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke had announced his intention to boycott the election.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Osun 2014 Gubernatorial Primary Election, Alhaji Mohammed Adamu Aliero, commended the process.

He said all party members in the state should work together as a team to ensure victory in the August 9 governorship election.

Similarly, the state Chairman of the party, in his welcome address, enjoined the party members to be law-abiding, saying they should shun anything that might lead to political chaos.

In his acceptance speech, the winner of the election, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, who was highly elated, said he has all it takes to send the incumbent governor, Mr. Rauf  Aregbesola.

He said, “I want to assure all of you that, our party, PDP, would win August 9 governorship election. So, you should not entertain any fear. All what I need is your complete support for us to work together in ensuring total victory.”
