The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, is to brief President Goodluck Jonathan on his recent trip to the Vatican city, Rome.
This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by Mr Dickson Omoregie, Country Representative of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD), and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
The statement said the Sultan would intimate the president on issues that were discussed during the inter-faith dialogue, which Nigeria stood to benefit.
The statement said the choice of the Sultan for the symposium by the ICD was to explore the use and potential of inter-faith dialogue to promote discourse with the ultimate goal of achieving global peace.
NAN recalls that the Sultan was invited to present a paper at a symposium on Cultural Diplomacy and Religion in the Vatican city.
The symposium aimed at providing a forum that would unite religious leaders with politicians, diplomats and academics in order to create cultural platforms.
NAN also reports that the ICD was founded in 1999 as an International Non-Governmental Organisation with headquarters in Berlin, Germany.
The ICD´s ultimate goal is to promote global peace and stability by strengthening and supporting inter-cultural relations at all levels.
