Bayelsa State Government says plans are on the way to develop a performance measurement tool to enhance quality service delivery in the state.
Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, stated this shortly after playing host to Mr. Scott Bates, President of Centre for National Policy, in his office in Yenagoa.
He observed that the lack of effective supervisory tool to monitor projects is a challenge which government wants to correct through a scientific and transparent process.
He recalled that Governor Seriake Dickson, being an epitome of accountability and transparency, introduced the monthly transparency briefing to account for the income and expenditure of the state and the strict compliance to due process in contract awards with a view to bringing about quality service delivery.
Mr. Ewhrudjakpo called for an extension of the partnership with the Centre for National Policy in the development of effective project performance programme to cover all MDAs in order to strengthen the socio-economic base at the local government areas and state levels.
Responding, Mr. Scott Bates, President of the Centre for National Policy, eulogized the sterling qualities of the state for the central role it plays in the nation’s economy.
Mr. Bates called for the constitution of a fiscal responsibility commission and a project advisory committee for regular project review.
