The 9who made the call also urged the institute to establish offices in all the 36 states of the federation for grassroots participation and mobilization.
According to information obtained from NICO website, Alhaji Hudu made the call after the Zonal Coordinator, NICO North-East Zone, Mallam Isma’ila Ahmad, made a presentation on the programmes and activities of the Institute during the meeting of the Association of Heads of Federal Civil Servants in Adamawa State hosted by NICO, North-East Zonal Office recently at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa state.
He added that, the agency was willing to support NICO with NYSC members in every state of the federation to complement NICO’s programmes and activities, whenever called upon.
Mallam Ahmad explained that, due to the increasing rate of violence, crime, prostitution, drug abuse, kidnapping, and terrorism in the country, the Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has been at the forefront of organizing sensitization programmes across the country, among which is the National Conference on “Culture, Peace and National Security”, for traditional rulers and local government chairmen.
The Zonal Coordinator challenged members to always lead by example by respecting time and always coming to the meeting at the right time, adding that the culture of African time should be stopped if Nigeria would move forward as a nation, pleading with the public to assist in giving any useful information on the abducted girls from Government Girls College, Chibok, Borno State, to the security agencies for appropriate action.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Association and Controller, Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Adamawa State, Mr. Emmanuel Hangeo, informed the gathering that, henceforth, if any member of the association has wedding or naming ceremonies, members should be invited for better mutual interaction and integration, adding that 70 percent of the day’s discussions will focus on NICO programmes, and that participants should suggest possible ways on how NICO as an agency will be supported to actualize its mandate in the zone.
