TENSION has heightened in Irun Akoko over the detentions of some chiefs and community leaders at the Police Station.
The detained chiefs, Nigeria Pilot learnt had gone to follow proceedings in a case instituted by the Salaja of Ogo Quarters, Oke Irun seeking justice in the case of his building, which was vandalised during the crisis that rocked the town late last year.
Oke Irun had been involved in a crisis that tore the Irun federation apart, a situation that led Oke Irun to declare itself independent of Odo Irun under the new name of Oke Oro.
This led to a widespread violence then in which many houses and property worth several millions of naira were burn and damaged.
Only last Friday, the Oke Irun chiefs and community leaders had gone to court to witness the case instituted by the Salaja of Ogo quarters but were said to have been arrested and detained by the police.
When the news of their continued detention get to the youths of Oke Irun, they mobilised and threatened to stage a protest but were prevailed upon by other chiefs and community leaders to let dialogue reign in the settlement of the situation.
