The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Thursday said it has postponed to later dates the return matches of the international friendly between Nigeria’s under-20 women team and their Ghanaian counterparts.

NFA’s Director of Competitions, Mohammed Sanusi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) informed the NFA they had issues with their international passports.

NAN reports that the Black Princesses were billed to arrive on Thursday in Abuja for their two friendly matches against the Nigerian side known as the Falconets.

The matches were scheduled for Friday, June 20 and Sunday, June 22 at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch of the Abuja National Stadium.

“The GFA called to inform us that they have issues with their passports submitted to the Canadian High Commission for processing to go to Canada for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

“They said they were yet to collect their passports from the High Commission. So, we are expecting them to get back to us to know if they will come next week.

“This means that the new dates will be announced at a later date, ” Sanusi said.

NAN reports the friendly matches in Abuja are the return leg games of the two matches they played in Ghana.

The Falconet beat the Black Princesses 2-1 in the first match in Ghana and fell 0-1 in the second match.

Both teams are using the matches as tune up for the forthcoming 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled to hold in Canada from Aug. 5 to Aug. 24.
