Bayelsa State Government-owned Oil Company has struck oil in one of the oil blocks it acquired after several years of exploration.
Governor Seriake Dickson made this disclosure at the state’s monthly Praise Night at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa.
The governor noted that the breakthrough came after huge funds were spent in the past without success.
Governor Dickson commended the management of the Bayelsa Oil Company for its diligence and commitment to the project, stressing that with the development, Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation would be greatly transformed.
He also used the occasion to restate the government’s commitment to the airport project, affirming that the state airport, near Amassoma would become operational next year.
While attributing the modest achievements of his administration to God, the governor lauded people for their support and faith in his government.
“The source of the development of the state is from God, as the fundamental changes in the state have confounded all the enemies of the state,” he said.
Governor Dickson described his administration as a revolutionary one that had come to change the landscape of the state forever.
“God is the one leading this state, because the love and power of God upon the state have brought peace and security.”
“I appreciate all the prayers for the government and people of the state since the inception of this administration. We have handed over the state to God and the result is glaring for everyone to see.”
The governor, who sounded philosophical, enjoined all Bayelsans to speak well of the state, noting that it will attract good tidings to the state.
The guest speaker, Rev. Moses Omote, whose message was titled: “The Release of God’s Power Through Praise,” from 2nd Kings 3: 13, admonished political leaders to make sacrifice, their watch word, as it can make God meet the desire of any man, prophesying that God will make Bayelsa have another four glorious years.
