Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson says he will soon review the state’s master plan to facilitate even development.
He made this public after signing a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Julius Berger Plc at the company’s international headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, in Yenagoa yesterday, the governor said the move was part of efforts of his administration to develop the Yenagoa/Azikoro Business Park in the state capital and to deepen his administration’s policy of driving the economy through the private sector.
Governor Dickson said: “Julius Berger has since grown to being a partner with equal stake in the development of our state. This development has called for a revision of the company’s master plan for the development of the state, in line with the present realities.
“The new partnership will serve as a veritable framework to fast-tracking the infrastructural development of the state.”
According to the governor, he was satisfied with the performance of the German company in the execution of projects, adding that the relationship between the construction giant and the state government had remained mutual.
“The fact that your company wants to come to Bayelsa to embark on these wonderful development projects, not just as contractors, but as investors, where you and your partners will put down your funds, is a demonstration of the confidence you have in our state; the confidence you have in the policies of our government; the confidence that you have in the future and the security of our state,” he said.
The Managing Director of Julius Berger International, Mr. George Marks, lauded the governor and his team for the trip and pledged to work with the Dickson administration to bring development closer to the people.
