Federal Capital Territory, FCT Indigenes Coalition Groups 4 Jonathan, over the weekend, declared that the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan has indeed impacted positively on the lives of majority of Nigerians especially the indigenous people of the FCT despite strong criticism from different opposition group and security challenges.
The group which claimed to be the umbrella organization in FCT that is championing the campaign for the second term of President Jonathan in office, equally hinted that all arrangements have been concluded to bring the President’s dream to fruition in 2015 Presidential election.
Coordinator of the group, Engr. Bussa Danjuma, told journalists in Abuja at the weekend that “though the President has not officially declared his intention to run for second term in office, his transformation agenda, especially in the Federal Capital Territory, has compelled the indigenes of Abuja to embark on early campaign for him”. Engr Danjuma said.
Danjuma who is also a commissioner representing FCT in the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fisacal Commission stated that the group signaled the campaign by erecting billboards in all the strategic locations in the territory a few months ago.
When asked to state in specific terms some of the achievements of the present administration in the FCT, the coordinator said that the infrastructural development in the territory within the tenure of President Jonathan’s administration is unprecedented, adding that the involvement of the indigenes in policy formulation in the FCT Administration has equally brought about immense benefits to the original inhabitants of Abuja.
According to him, “the FCT indigenes are not blind people. Before we came up with this position, we have compared notes with previous administrations of the territory. To be honest, the appointment of Senator Bala Mohammed as FCT Minister by President Jonathan is a blessing for us. Before his appointment, no minister of FCT cared to seek our input in any policy formulation.”
Speaking further on the achievements, Danjuma noted that, “If you take a critical look at the Land Swap Programme, you will agree with me that it will fast track infrastructural development in the territory. The Light Rail project which was less than 20 percent during the tenure of Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo and Senator Adamu Aliero has reached over 30 percent as we speak, and hopefully, by December 2015, the project will be completed. The water project at Lower Usman Dam that could not be completed under three previous ministers was completed and commissioned by President Jonathan.
