Following the successful repatriation of alleged terror mastermind of April 14, 2014 Nyanya motor park bombing, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the Federal Government is finalising arrangement to arraign the suspected terror mastermind.
Receiving the fugitive, Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar,
said Ogwuche’s repatriation to Nigeria showed that the global coalition against terrorism, championed by Nigeria, was beginning to yield the desired results.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Frank Mba, in a statement had stated that the extradition of the fugitive was successful following a conclusion of tortuous legal and diplomatic processes between Nigeria and the Republic of Sudan.
Nigerian Pilot recalls that the alleged terror fugitive was arrested in Sudan following an international red notice issued for his arrest by the Nigeria National Bureau of Interpol but he was not earlier repatriated to the country due to some necessary processes involved in transferring suspects from one country to another.
Ogwuche was handed over to the Interpol Unit of the Nigeria Police Force by the Sudanese authorities, and was flown into the country in a special flight from Khartoum which touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, security forces said the fugitive will be interrogated and arraigned soon.
If Ogwuche is found culpable of act of terrorism, he will face life imprisonment.
