Maigari survives impeachment

  • Congress scheduled for next week Thursday

What would have resulted in the impeachment of the embattled President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Aminu Maigari was quickly averted as the Bauchi-born administrator went down on his knees to beg members of the board.

Members of the restated Board convened an emergency meeting 48 hours after a jos high court returned them to office following pleas by relevant stakeholders, who prevailed on the wife of the ousted Nigeria Premier League, NPL, Chairman, Chief Victor Baribote.

Out of remaining 13 board members on the NFF Board, 12 of them attended the meeting, which lasted between 9am and 4pm yesterday. The only absentee, Mr. Felix Anyansi was said to be out of the country.

The fully tensed meeting started with six members as from 9am before the other five members including Alhaji Ahmed Kawu, Barr Chris

Green, Chief Emeka Inyama, Hon. Suleiman Kwande and Alhaji Ahmed Kawu, who are loyal to Maigari stormed Glass House, NFF headquarters at 12 noon.

Nigerian Pilot Sports was reliably informed by inside sources that the five other Men who are on Maigari’s side had made moves to suspend three opposing members to scuttle the earlier plan to impeach the NFF President.

But their plans were marred when they discovered that the opposing members have their plans intact.

Our inside sources disclosed that the embattled NFF Boss, who later joined the meeting went on his knees begging to calm nerves.

Speaking later, NFF Spokesman, Chief Inyama said “The board will visit the minister of sports to pay homage. There will be an official board meeting by Thursday next week to harmonise what has been discussed.
