Minister of Sports and National Sports Commission, NSC, Dr. Tammy Danagogo has blamed Super Eagles failure to go beyond round of 16 of the just concluded World Cup to administrative lapses on the part of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
Dr. Danagogo who spoke in Abuja expressed dismay over the inability of the country’s football authority to chart a common front that would propel Nigeria to break long years of second round jinx.
He maintained “All the issues in our football are centered on management. Is true that our team have never gone beyond round of 16 at the World Cup but we have what it takes to get pass that stage.
“I believe that what we need is sound football management. Our ability to manage what we have, develop and manage it before putting forward to compete favourably.
“And so, all the issues we have always had centers around management of our football. There is a lot to do to make sure that Nigeria get to the semi-final and final stage of the World Cup.
“This country has overwhelming pool of talents to achieve whatever we want to achieve in football and other sports. Based on what our athletes have been able to do in the past, we have abundant talents in Nigeria.
“Yes Government has a lot to do in the area of supporting the development of theses talents but I think, those charged with the responsibility of putting things in place have much to do to make sure that funds which made available are used judiciously.
