3 die as cultists clash in Rivers

Three persons have been killed during a clash between two rival cult groups in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Communities in Khana and Gokana Local Government Areas in Ogoni have had their fair share of cult clashes that have reigned in Rivers State since 2003; and several communal clashes in the area have been linked to cult clashes.
Nigerian Pilot learnt that the victims who were killed on Sunday, including a woman, were from Bane and Kpaa communities of Khana LG.
Caretaker Committee chairman of Khana LGA, Mr. Hyacinth Nwiye, who confirmed the incident, said he personally went to the Bori Police Station in the area to see the corpses, pointing out that one of those killed was beheaded.
He said: “When I heard about the incident I quickly called the DPO to find out what happened. I went there myself also and when I got there, I discovered that the bodies have been brought to the police station.”
As at the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police PRO, Ahmad Mohammad could not be reached to confirm the incident as his phone was said to be unavailable when a call was put through to him.
