The former Newcastle man has finally left England after 14 years at the top for the Turkish league.
After 14 years playing at Newcastle United, Shola Ameobi has made the move to Turkey’s second division club Gaziantep Buyuksehir Belediyespor for one year.
The 32-year-old played for Nigeria at the World Cup where he featured in two matches against Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina as the Super Eagles reached the second round.
He became a free agent at the end of last season when he was released by the Magpies where he started from the academy and made 397 appearances with 79 goals for the senior team.
“We want to establish an ambitious team in the league this season. We have therefore tied Shola Ameobi from one of the strongest teams in England to us for one year,” Gaziantep wrote on their website.
