A group, Arewa Mandate Group, AMG, has applauded the on-going repositioning of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, DRTS, by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA.
The group’s national coordinator, Mallam Shehu Umar Danlami said yesterday that the ongoing repositioning of the agency has become necessary to arrest the observable drift in the operational and general efficiency and effectiveness in the organisation.
The group hailed the appointment of Mallam Danjuma Garba, a former Deputy Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, as the new Director of DRTS.
It described the appointment as a major indication of the FCTA’s resolve to further enhance and promote safe motoring in the Federal Capital Territory in line with the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
They commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed for his clear vision and wisdom in appointing a product of the world-acclaimed FRSC as the new DRTS director.
According to the group, the FRSC has become a major credible brand in the global and African road safety circles because of its innovative achievements and crop of highly-motivated officers.
They further observed that the new director of DRTS is on a rescue mission in the DRTS, pointing out that his assignment is to immediately arrest the current drift in the vision and operations of the agency towards restoring it to its original mission.
Mallam Danlami urged the new director to use his vast experience in staff administration, discipline, training and welfare to bring to bear on the operations and image of the directorate in order to meet the public demands for a decent, humane and professional road traffic management in the FCT.
