The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State held its State Congress yesterday, September 28, 2014, where 31 officers were elected to steer its affairs for the next four years.
Four of the new executive members are former officers of the party in the state.
Prominent among those who emerged as officers is the interim chairman of the party Chief Jide Awe. Others include Mrs. Kemi Olaleye as the Deputy Chairman, Barrister Paul Omotosho as the State Secretary, Mr, Gbenga Agbeyo, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Sola Omolayo, treasurer, Hon Taiwo Olatubosun, Publicity Secretary, Femi Ogundana, Youth leader, Mrs. Iyabo Babatunde, Auditor and Chief Ronke Okusanya, Woman Leader.
In a goodwill message delivered by the leader of the national delegation that supervised the election, Chief Sam Sam Jaja, he congratulated all those that emerged as officers, describing them as the first of such officers to be elected by APC in the state.
According to him, Ekiti is a state of pride and APC members as committed people who no breeze, tempest, storm or tornado can shake. “You are not cowards. I know that come 2015, you will come out to vote en masse for APC.”
Also while thanking party faithful for the trust reposed on him and other members of the new executives, Chief Awe said notwithstanding the current challenges confronting the party, APC remained the party to beat in Ekiti. “This is our land. The land of the progressives, We won’t allow any stranger to take it from us.”
