Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Mr. John Kennedy Opara has charged Christian Private Tour Operators and churches engaged in Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria to maintain high spiritual content in their pilgrimage activities.
The NCPC boss disclosed this during the week in Abuja at a meeting with Christian Private Tour Operators, CPTOs, in Abuja.
He said that the commission placed emphasis on pilgrimage as a tool for moral and spiritual transformation.
He urged the Christian tour operators to cultivate the spirit of synergy among themselves and ensure that they partner with the state Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards in order to move the industry forward.
According to him, “You must see your job like ministry, as people with divine calling. With this mindset, members would be able put in their best.
The NCPC helmsman further urged them to develop a feedback mechanism by turning in their report to the commission after a successful pilgrimage exercise.
Speaking, the chairperson of the Christian Private Tour Operators of Nigeria, Mrs. Adeola Adekola thanked the NCPC boss for his efforts at repositioning of pilgrimage sub sector.
She further appreciated him for approving that the list of all Christian Private Tour Operators licenced with the commission be published in national newspapers to help public identify genuine ones in order to flush out charlatans from the industry.
She canvassed that a meeting of this nature be held regularly to afford members the opportunity to rob minds with the NCPC management.
The meeting was attended by Christian Private Tour Operators and churches from across the country, the federal commissioner representing the South-West zone on the Board of NCPC, Deaconess Adefemi Taire, as well as the chairman of the Conference of States, Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards, Rev. Israel Akanji and other stakeholders.
