Not less than 1500 literacy school Backpacks were donated by construction giants, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to students of junior secondary school 1 to JSS3 of Gwarimpa Government Secondary School in Abuja, FCT as part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility ,CSR.
Each of the packs contained an Oxford Advanced Leaders dictionary (international student edition,) Julius Beger branded school note books, pencil, eraser and sharpener.
Speaking to the Nigerian Pilot Sunday about the event, Public Affairs adviser, Clement Iloba, noted that it was JBN’s way of contributing and creating educational progress for Nigeria students.
Through this way, he explained that the construction firm was also assisting in promoting the advancement of literacy within Nigerian school system.
“A part of Julius Berger’s CSR goal is to create educational progress through the establishment of sustainable programs and donations” Iloba noted, adding that the campaign started in 2012 with the distribution of over 5000 copies of the book, titled, “ the Great Fall, authored by Nigerian, Chinyere Obi- Obasi.
He added that the donation of the books was just one leg of the company’s educational initiative, others he noted included writing workshops geared to improving the reading culture and writing skills of participating students.
