Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero yesterday picked the nomination form seeking to recontest the governorship election in 2015 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The move by the Governor has put paid to speculations surrounding his willingness to contest and rumors of alleged intrigues seeking to block his political ambition.
Speaking shortly after purchasing the nomination form at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, Yero said his quest to continue in office was in response to calls by people from various segments of the state as well as the need for continuity.
He said; “my intention to contest is not based on personal ambition rather, it is in consideration of the interest of majority of the people in the State, who are desirous of continuity and steady improvement of the general well being of the people.”
Governor Yero assured the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP that Kaduna State remains the traditional home of the party saying the party will win all contestable positions in the state come 2015.
Earlier in his remarks, National Organizing Secretary of the party, Malam Abubakar Mustapha said Governor Yero is first among Governors to have purchased the nomination form.
He commended the Governor and ensured him of the party’s readiness to provide level play field for aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag in the 2015 polls.
It would be recalled that major stakeholders of the party from all over the state recently endorsed the candidature of Governor Yero for next year’s gubernatorial election. Other groups within and outside the party have also expressed their support for his election as governor come 2015.
