The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC worldwide, yesterday, said Comrade Udengs Eradiri remains its President.
A statement issued to Nigerian Pilot by IYC spokesman, Mr Eric Omare said, “For the benefit of members of the public, the IYC National leadership wishes to state,
that the information relating to the suspension of the President of the IYC, Comrade Udengs Eradiri by a group of persons is baseless, malicious and intended to cause confusion in Ijawland and the Niger Delta by enemies of the Ijaw nation.”
The statement noted that, “Comrade Udengs Eradiri remains the President of the IYC, Worldwide. The IYC is a responsible organisation administered in accordance with its Constitution. The IYC Constitution clearly provides the procedure for discipline of erring officers.
“IYC lawyers led by its National Legal Adviser, Barr. Ekine Egbelekro has been mandated to formally write Africa Broadcasting Television, AIT, to retract the conflicting and misleading news relating to the leadership status of the IYC.
“We call on the general public to disregard the purported suspension of the IYC President while efforts are being made to restore total discipline and sanity to the IYC starting with the setting up of disciplinary committee to discipline erring members and officers of council and inauguration of the IYC parliament on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Rivers State,” the statement added.
