Kogi commences monthly environmental sanitation

 

In his attempt to clean Lokoja, the capital city of its ever increasing filths, the Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada has approved the last Saturday of every month as the State monthly sanitation day.

According to the state Deputy Governor, Arc Yomi Awoniyi, the monthly sanitation exercise is expected to commence on 25th of October, 2014 which is the last Saturday of this month.

He said the exercise became imperative, especially at the capital city, in order to involve all stakeholders across the state in cleanliness of the environment as well as to cope with the astronomical growth of daily wastes generated in the state capital.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of the environmental sanitation exercise, the Deputy Governor said there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 7.00 am to 10.00 am on the slated days.

According to the statement signed by Micheal Abuh, the Chief Press secretary to the Deputy Governor, security agents have been instructed to arrest those who would contravene the sanitation exercise rules, adding that such people will be arraigned before constituted mobile courts that will sit on every sanitation day in the capital city.
