May7en was born on May 7; her father played football in jersey number 7. He (father) was nicknamed during his playing days as Mathematical 7.  He also has 7 children. All these combine to give May7en her stage name which is very popular in the UK.

Born of a former football star, and Ex-Green eagle’s skipper, Segun Odegbami, electrifying singer, Oluwayemisi May Odegbami is no doubt a star in the UK. Her popularity has also spread across Africa and indeed Nigeria as she revealed in a recent chat, saying, the number 7 is her family’s lucky number.

Talking about her education, the singer revealed how she started from Bodija International School, Ibadan, and “I went to Bodija International School in Ibadan. In the UK, I went to different schools but the last one was Riverston Private School in Elton. After secondary school, I did short courses in Marketing and Music Engineering, and then I bagged a degree in Architecture and Building Survey.”

For a young Mom who met her first love at 15, she said, she separated from the British-Caribean father of her kids seven years ago believing that, Nigerian men are fine most especially in the way they approach women.

They are aggressive and determined in the way they approach women. They don’t give up, and I guess that’s one wonderful thing about Nigerians because they apply it to all situations. They are very focused and driven.”

Is she considering collaborations with any Nigeria music act? “Well. I have already worked with some of them including 2face, Wizkid, Davido and others. However, I will still like to work with Davido, Phyno, Olamide and so many of them.”

She also wants to unite the sisters in the music industry, Tiwa did some backing for me in London on one of my tracks, but I want to do a couple of tracks with her. I am also in talks with Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade, Waje, and a couple of others. I want to put them all on a track called, Sisters Unite.”

May7en is fine with her Mom, Jumoke Odegbami, who lives in London but, also in good terms with her step-Mom except her Dad’s controversial romance with TV girl, Funmi Iyanda, “My step-Mom, she’s cool, and we have met a couple of times.

However, when I was growing up, I had a lot of resentment towards Funmi Iyanda, but as I grew older, I realised how these relationships happen. You don’t plan who to fall in love with. At that point, even though my father was married, sometimes, he was not even seeing his wife for a whole year, so that cannot really be called a marriage. It is not in my place to choose who he would be with for him,” she said.
