Former Niger Delta militant and first phase generals in the Presidential Amnesty Programme under the auspices of Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative, LPCDI have vowed to rally support for the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the militants, their support is not based on tribe, but on the fact that “President Jonathan has done creditably well and deserves a second term to consolidate the gains of the transformation programme he has commenced.”

In a statement signed by the national president of LPCDI, and ex militant general, Pastor Reuben C. Wilson, the former agitators insist that the country is experiencing an “uncommon transformation for the first time” in its existence under the leadership of President Jonathan.

“The dividends of the national transformation programme of Mr. President are eloquently evident for all to see.  Hitherto moribund sectors such as the Nigerian Railway, agriculture, small scale industries, etc are all transformed and made productive by the Jonathan administration.

“The epileptic power situation that preceded the emergence of President Jonathan has also been greatly improved upon by his administration. For the first time in the history of this country, power has been made to be considerably stable.

According to the statement, the former militants have concluded plans to hold a “One Million Niger Deltans for Goodluck Jonathan rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Thursday November 13, with former militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, while Hon Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and chairman of the presidential amnesty programme, shall be special guest of honour.

The rally is expected to attract various stakeholders, youth and women groups across the Niger Delta region, governors of the Niger Delta states, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Association of Beauty Pageants Organisers of Nigeria, All Nigerian Beauty Queens, and many more.
