Delta to complete 80 model schools

Delta State Government at the weekend said a total of 80 model schools would be delivered to Deltans at the end of governor Emmanuel uduaghan’s administration come May 29, 2015.
The state commissioner in charge of directorate for special infrastructure, Mr. Patrick Ferefe, told our correspondent in an interview that 50 of the schools have been completed; adding that the Directorate has been directed to commence 30 new schools when he said would be complete before the present administration end on May 29, 2015.
The commissioner explained that the project was of utmost importance to the state government as Uduaghan led administration was ready to deliver quality educational infrastructures to Deltans; adding that the present government has been determined to finish strong and warned the contractors handling the school projects across the state to speed up their work or face revocation if found wanting.
The commissioner however expressed delight at the pace of work Dom-Domigo’s college, Dorenumam college and the Uwangwae College which had been completed; adding that the projects were awarded in April 2014 as the project has gone beyond 65 percent completion.
Meanwhile, the people of Ode-Itsekiri communities who have not seen vehicles since the community came into existence would soon heave a sigh of relief as the 19km road leading to the community from Warri and Swampy and Mangrove creeks is expected to be completed in the next six months.
Mr. Ferefe said that the contracting firm handling the projects had been focused in getting the job done hence he would ensure that it was fully assisted to finish the project which had 19 bridges constructed on it successfully.
