An improvised explosive device, IED, suspected to be abandoned by Boko Haram insurgents exploded killing one person and injuring two other people in lugda village of Maiha local government area in Adamawa state.
Reports from the area revealed that the victims were on Sunday at about 6:30am warming their bodies with the firewood due to harmatan when one of them sighted a nylon bag, picked and it dropped it in the fire without knowing it contained IED which exploded hitting all within the vicinity.
Those injured were later rushed to a hospital in Yola, the state capital for treatment for treatment.
Confirming the incident Adamawa state police public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Othman Abubakar explained that the situation happened as a result of ignorance of the victims who acted accidently without prior knowledge of the content of the nylon leather.
Abubakar therefore charged the public to be more vigilant and to avoid touching strange objects.
