The Nigerian military says there is no going back or slowing down on the war to rout the boko haram insurgents from the north east or anywhere else in the country.
The Director Of Defense, information Major General Chris Olukolade, while briefing journalist at the defense headquarters in Abuja, said the operations were working out in line with strategic plans as a very significant number of identified terrorists enclaves had already been ponded and destroyed in the on-going air strikes.
Major General Olukolade said the ground forces were also conducting assaults along with necessary mopping up, cordon–and–search operation in communities and locations previously occupied by terrorists.
While acknowledging the show of solidarity and support being expressed by Nigerians to the military, the defense spokesman however said there are segments of the society who were bent on undermining the morale of the fighting troops by deliberately playing down on its operational successes so far.
Olukolade maintained that the current turn of the tide against the Boko Haram terrorists was an initiative driven by the Nigerian military but which enjoyed the backing of the re-invigorated multi-national joint task force with troops from Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
