Nigeria Football Federation, NFF announced on Friday that the senior national team, Super Eagles, would play a friendly game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Sunday, March 29.
The match will take place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
This is coming a little over four months after a 2-2 draw in Uyo between the two teams, meant Nigeria failed to qualify for the 30th Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea.
The venue hosted Nigeria’s first two matches at the 2013 AFCON, 1-1 draws against Burkina Faso and Zambia but the Eagles went all the way to lift the trophy for the first time in 19 years.
Both teams are preparing for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series. The two last met in South Africa in a qualifying match for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, which ended scoreless in Cape Town.
Nigeria were initially scheduled to take on the Black Stars of Ghana in London on the same date but FIFA’s new regulations regarding playing games within continents inside three days put paid to proposed friendly match billed for London.
