The Niger Delta Democratic Movement (NDDM) has blamed Governor Rotimi Amaechi over the crises that rocked the Assembly and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In a release issued in Port Harcourt by its national president, Mr. Samuel Odum and others, the group said the governor as the chief executive of the state should have used his position to stem the crises.
Rather, the group said, the governor was seen as the brain behind the crises and advised him to exhibit commitment and loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan who is the leader of PDP in the country, in order to promote democratic principles in the society.
The group appealed to the president to remain focused in the face of provocative utterances by his detractors and pilot the affairs of the nation, adding that “as Nigerians we need peace and orderliness now to reap the dividends of democracy.”
It also condemned the recent visit of the five Northern governors to Port Harcourt, advising that the “North should allow Rivers people to settle their problems and not fuel them.”
“They should use their positions to tackle the religious crisis in the North and that of Boko Haram”, the group added.
The group also used the opportunity to commend Evans Bipi, whom it described as a true democrat, having a passion for justice and fairness, noting that his “emergency as the new speaker signifies the end of tyranny, dictatorship and suffering of the masses in the state.”
