Women, biggest beneficiaries of Jonathan’s govt – Chikwe

National Women leader of the PDP, Mrs. Kema Chikwe has said that women remained the greatest beneficiaries of the policies and programmes of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Chikwe, a former minister of Aviation told a PDP national women rally in Uyo that women have continued to occupy the most sensitive positions in the governance of the country.
She said that for the President to have made a woman the minister of Finance, Mrs Okonjo Iwuala the coordinating minister of the economy and another woman, Mrs. Alison Dieziani Madueke as Petroleum minister meant that Jonathan has recognised the worth of women.
“Nigerian women, this is the most gender sensitive President we have ever had in this country. Today a woman is the minister of finance coordinating other minister, today a woman is the minister of petroleum and now President of OPEC.
“Most of the programmes of this administration has been tailored to favour the women and youths so Nigerian women what more can we ask from a President. I am also sure that women in other political parties have their heart on Jonathan. On Election Day they will vote for Jonathan because at heart they are PDP.
She commended women in the state for their support and role they have played in the transformation of Akwa Ibom and urged the incoming government to ensure that the place of women in the polity of the state is preserved.
Also in a remark the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Amina Sambo said that the large turnout of women at the occasion was a testimony that the PDP government has been accepted by the Nigerian people because of the transformation agenda of the President.
Mrs. Sambo maintained that the President has been gender friendly and that women are bound to get more roles in governance with their support for the President adding that the renovation of the UNIUYO teaching Hospital, a skill acquisition centre, SURE-P projects and the U-WIN programme were all meant to improve the lives of women in the area.
