Senatorial candidate, Abia South for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has described as inconsequential the character of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate for the senatorial zone, Chief Chris Nkwonta.
Abaribe who spoke through is media assistant, Uche Awom in his response to the allegation by Nkwonta that Abaribe masterminded the recent attack on his campaign team, said” such silly allegation smacks of desperation of a man looking for political relevance”.
He continued:”Attacking him for what? Nkwonta is not and can never be a threat. What can one achieve with such act?”
Nigerian Pilot reports that part of the statement issued by Nkwonta and dated 15th March, 2015 reads, “it is on record that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe had on Saturday 13th March, 2015 at a meeting hosted at the residence of former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, the PDP leader at Ohambele Ukwa East local government area of the state boasted that “all the radicals in Obingwa have been assembled and settled for the task ahead”.
Continuing, the statement reads, “he told the party members the meeting that no other candidate from any other political party can enter the local government to campaign that all his destructive arsenals have been revived and set alive”.
According to Abaribe, Nkwonta may have arranged the phantom shooting or attack just to attract attention.
“Nobody takes him (Nkwonta) serious in this his deluded journey for the simple reason that he is an infant in politics. So there is no basis joining issues with him.
“His funny behaviour is normal of those facing a crushing defeat,” Abaribe said.
