Polls: Use no substances on your fingers, INEC tells Taraba women

Following the mock accreditation exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on the smart card readers, INEC has cautioned Taraba women against the application of any substance such as ‘lally’ on their fingers on election day.
Speaking in Jalingo, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Ahmad Makama who made the appeal said that the application of such substances on the fingers would affect the performance of the card readers.
He told the stakeholders that the mock accreditation exercise, which the Commission conducted in the state clearly proved that most of the ladies that applied ‘lally’ had problem of the card reader identifying their finger prints.
While appealing to the women to stop applying ‘lally’ on their fingers for the purpose of the election slated for March 28 and April 11, he also insisted that “it will make it easier for the card reader machine to recognize their thumb print during accreditation”.
The Resident Electoral Commiserate also appealed to the electorate to be peaceful and orderly during the elections.
Makama revealed to the stakeholders that the sensitive electoral materials had arrived the state on Wednesday in the presence of political party leaders, security agents and journalists for the purpose of security.
Mr Freeman Tumba, the state Director of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in his comments appealed against attacks on the corps members involved in the elections.
The director also appealed to the stakeholders as well as other politicians to avoid politics of bitterness to guarantee peaceful, free, fair and credible elections.
