FCT electorates vote amidst water-tight security

Electorates in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT-Abuja yesterday exercised their franchise in electing their president and lawmakers amidst tight security. The residents of the seat of government also complied with the movement restriction order of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba.
Most of the polling units that our correspondents visited in company of the Police chiefs, heavy security presence were noticed.
Some electoral officers also confirmed the level of cooperation they enjoyed from both the security operatives and the electorate.
Speaking to journalists after monitoring the polls within FCT, IGP Abba said he is highly impressed with the level of security and order in the conduct of the polls.
He also appreciated the level of synergy between the security agencies as well as the INEC officials and the electorates.
IGP Abba said; “So far, so good, I am highly impressed with the level of security and order in the conduct of the polls. Not just from the security operatives but also from the officials and electorates generally. Similar records of peaceful conduct have been reported from the states. Yes, we have recorded few cases of terrorist’s strikes but they were not harmful to the electorates. Where there are elements of Boko Haram, the situation was managed.
Meanwhile, slight crisis was noticed in Lugbe as a result of complaints by voters over non-availability of ink and ballot papers in some polling units.
