APC wins Lagos Island federal constituency

All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates for Lagos Island Federal Constituencies 1 and 2 in Lagos State were yesterday declared winners of the Saturday’s Federal House of Representatives elections by INEC.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer for the Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1, Mrs Martha Amadi, said that Mr Enitan Badru of the APC polled 15,389 votes to beat his PDP counterpart, Mr Lukman Oladipo, who got 5,732 votes.
She said, “I hereby declare Hon. Badru, winner of the election; he won the highest votes and satisfied the requirements of the election.”
The Returning Officer for Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2, Mr Adekunle Salvador, said the APC candidate, Mr Yakubu Balogun scored 16,437 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Mr Rahman Salawe, who polled 7,305 votes.
Salvador said, “Having satisfied the 2015 election requirements, Hon. Yakubu Balogun of APC is declared winner of Lagos Island federal constituency 2 seat.”
Meanwhile, fighting broke out between supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at Akesan in Egan Igando area of Alimosho local government.
It was learnt that a PDP supporter was stabbed by an APC loyalist.
